Functional Analyst

Pittsburg State University is accepting applications for a Functional Analyst in the department of Information Technology Services that is responsible for serving as the primary lead and subject matter expert for the technical maintenance and continuous improvement of the GUS Cloud modules and other software programs for the Business, Cashiers, Purchasing, and Budget Offices. This position is responsible for writing reports, facilitating updates and upgrade testing, managing roles, technical trouble shooting, help-desk ticket management, and coordinating with other related system users across campus. This position assists other subject matter experts in conducting operational and process analysis to develop well-tested recommendations and solutions. The position will focus primarily on GUS Cloud Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Procurement, but will be expected to have a working knowledge of the other GUS Cloud modules, as well as other software utilized by the departments represented (i.e. Cashiering Systems, Ticketing Systems, etc.) to coordinate activities with other subject matter experts across campus.

Duties and Responsibilities

Reporting and Analytics – 35%

  • Uses software, including but not limited to, OBIEE and OTBI, to create data models, reports and analysis for subject matter experts and campus users to conduct business and complete business processes
  • Reviews and updates reports, analyses, dashboards and other analytics as business processes and system upgrades change and evolve
  • Documents steps and provides training for subject matter experts and campus users as needed
  • Acts as the subject matter expert and IT representative for the Business and Purchasing Offices

Troubleshooting, Upgrades, Maintenance, New Functionality, and Service Requests– 35%

  • Participates in analysis and testing required with patches, maintenance, new functionality, and release upgrades
  • Coordinates implementation of next steps with subject matter experts to ensure continual functionality of GUS Cloud and other software programs
  • Develops a productive, beneficial working relationship with support personnel
  • Manages service requests and enhancement requests for designated areas and issues
  • Collaborates with software company, subject matter experts, and campus users, as needed, to provide in-depth functional solutions and ensure development of efficient and sustainable application systems utilizing best-in-class standards, procedures, and methodologies

Business Process Analysis, Design, Training, and Implementation – 20%

  • Participates with subject matter experts in business process analysis, design, implementation, documentation and communication for users
  • Acts as project manager on specific tasks, coordinating with subject matter experts and campus users to ensure assigned tasks are complete in a quality manner
  • Creates regular training activities for new users
  • Assists with system security and creation of roles or permissions within assigned modules

Miscellaneous and Special Projects – 10%

  • Pursues learning, training, and educational opportunities for optimization and system enhancements to software
  • Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience

Required Education and Experience - Time of Hire

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Management Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field or four years of relevant work experience
  • Demonstrated ability to create data models, reports, and execute SQL statements

Preferred Education and Experience

  • 1-year work-related experience with a Cloud-based system (e.g. Oracle, Workday) supporting functional users
  • 1-year work-related experience with relational databases
  • Functional knowledge related to accounting, procurement, budget, etc.
  • Experience in higher education computer systems
  • Experience in business, procurement, and budget computer systems
  • Experience with Oracle Cloud
  • Experience with OBIEE/OBTI is preferred

Salary: $50,000 annually

Job Type: Unclassified

Appointment Duration: 12 months

Work Schedule: Full Time, Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM, weekends as needed
