Functional Medicine Nurse Practitioner

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including detailed medical histories, physical examinations, and vital signs to identify underlying health issues.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that incorporate functional medicine principles, including nutrition, lifestyle modifications, and integrative therapies.
  • Administer and monitor therapies such as IV infusions, botulinum toxin treatments, dermal fillers, esthetic laser treatments, and other advanced procedures.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care for patients with complex conditions such as chronic pain, gastrointestinal disorders, autoimmune diseases, or neurological issues.
  • Manage electronic health records (EHR) systems like Epic or eClinicalWorks to ensure accurate documentation of patient encounters, treatment plans, and progress notes.
  • Educate patients on health coaching strategies, medication administration, and preventive care practices to foster long-term wellness.
  • Stay current with clinical research developments in areas like geriatrics, pediatrics, infectious disease care, hospice & palliative medicine, and trauma medicine to deliver cutting-edge treatments.

Skills

  • Proven experience with Epic or Athenahealth EMR/EHR systems for efficient documentation and patient management.
  • Strong background in medical office procedures including CPT coding, ICD coding (ICD-10), and utilization review processes.
  • Skilled in performing advanced procedures such as suturing, phlebotomy, catheterization, spinal taps, and sterile processing techniques.
  • Extensive knowledge of physiology and anatomy to accurately assess patient conditions and perform diagnostic evaluations.
  • Experience with telehealth platforms to provide remote consultations and follow-up care effectively.
  • Familiarity with acute care settings such as ICU or Level I Trauma Center environments enhances your ability to manage complex cases.
  • Ability to work with diverse populations including seniors in assisted living or nursing home settings, children requiring pediatric care or neonatal ventilator support.
  • Competence in managing pain through various modalities like acute pain management protocols or esthetic laser treatments.
  • Understanding of Workers' Compensation law and insurance billing practices related to occupational health services.
