Furniture Sales Professional

Job Overview
Fish Furniture, a 100-year retail furniture business rooted in Northeast Ohio, is seeking a results-driven, motivated and polished Sales Professional to join our team. You will be the primary point of contact for customers shopping for high-quality, custom and designer furniture. This is a consultative sales role—your job is to understand customer needs, provide expert guidance, and drive sales by offering an exceptional showroom experience.

We cater to discerning customers who expect both service and substance. If you can build trust, ask the right questions, and close the sale—this role offers strong earnings potential and long-term growth. Many of our sales professional have worked at Fish Furniture for over 25 years.

Responsibilities

- Greet and assist walk-in customers in a warm, professional manner

- Listen actively and ask consultative questions to understand customer needs, preferences, and lifestyle

- Guide customers through furniture selection, customization options, fabric choices, and design coordination

- Maintain deep product knowledge across all categories (living, dining, bedroom, office, outdoor, etc.)

- Meet or exceed monthly and quarterly sales goals

- Follow up consistently with customers throughout the purchase and delivery process

- Build and maintain a personal book of business and repeat clientele

- Input and update orders, customer notes, and sales pipeline in POS/CRM systems

- Maintain showroom appearance and ensure merchandise is presented to standard

- Collaborate with design and operations staff to ensure a seamless customer experience

- Stay informed about new arrivals, manufacturer offerings, promotions, and design trends

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with high-end or custom furniture

- Interior design background or training (a plus)

- Working knowledge of brands like Flexsteel, Hooker, etc.

- Familiarity with Northeast Ohio’s design and homeowner demographics

Requirements

- Minimum 3 years of successful retail sales experience (furniture or luxury retail preferred)

- Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets

- Strong communication, interpersonal, and follow-up skills

- High personal standards of integrity, professionalism, and presentation

- Comfortable with technology (POS, CRM, iPad tools, etc.)

- Self-starter with a positive, can-do attitude

- Availability to work weekends, some holidays, and occasional evenings

- Ability to learn detailed product information and customization options
