Role Overview
A Game UI Artist is responsible for designing and creating visually engaging, intuitive user interfaces for video games. This role blends graphic design, UX thinking, and game art to ensure players can easily navigate menus, HUDs, and interactive systems while staying immersed in the game’s visual style.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and produce high-quality game UI elements, including:
- Menus, HUDs, icons, buttons, overlays, and pop-ups
- Collaborate with game designers, UX designers, and programmers to implement UI systems that are both functional and visually appealing
- Create UI layouts that clearly communicate information and enhance gameplay clarity
- Maintain visual consistency with the game’s art direction, theme, and branding
- Prepare UI assets for implementation in game engines (Unity, Unreal, or proprietary engines)
- Iterate on UI designs based on playtesting feedback, usability testing, and team input
- Optimize UI assets for performance across different platforms and screen resolutions
- Create style guides, UI mockups, wireframes, and UI animations when needed
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Strong graphic design fundamentals (composition, color theory, typography)
- Experience creating UI for games or interactive media
- Proficiency in design tools such as:
- Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Figma, or similar
- Understanding of UX principles and player-centered design
- Ability to work within technical constraints and pipelines
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to take feedback and iterate quickly
Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills
- Experience with Unity UI, Unreal UMG, or similar systems
- Basic understanding of UX research and usability testing
- Motion design or UI animation experience
- Knowledge of accessibility best practices in games
- Experience shipping at least one game title
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: ₹400,000.00 - ₹800,000.00 per year
