Responsibilities

• Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system efficiently to process sales accurately and quickly
• Greet customers warmly, answer questions about products, and assist with product demos when needed
• Handle cash, credit card transactions, and cash handling procedures with precision and integrity
• Maintain organized checkout areas by stocking supplies and ensuring merchandise is well-presented
• Provide exceptional customer service by addressing inquiries via phone or in person with professionalism and courtesy
• Upsell complementary products such as fertilizers, tools, or seasonal items to enhance customer satisfaction and sales
• Support merchandising efforts by assisting with product displays and stock replenishment throughout the store

Experience

• Previous retail sales experience preferred, especially in a grocery store or garden center environment
• Familiarity with POS systems and cashiering procedures is highly desirable
• Supervising experience is a plus, demonstrating leadership in team settings
• Bilingual skills are advantageous for serving diverse customer needs effectively
• Strong communication skills combined with excellent phone etiquette are essential for engaging customers confidently
• Basic math skills are necessary for handling transactions accurately and performing retail math calculations
• Experience in merchandising, stocking, or product demonstrations will help you succeed in this dynamic role
