We are seeking a part-time individual with a passion for sustainable gardening, landscaping, and ecological restoration.
About Father Nature Restorative Landscaping: We design, create, and maintain environmentally beneficial landscapes that focus on ecological health. We improve Chesapeake Bay water quality by capturing rainwater runoff; heal landscapes with meadows, woodland restorations, and invasive plant management; cultivate interactions between people and landscapes through installing “Gardens of Eat’n,” natural play areas for children, and occasionally through building ‘outdoor rooms’ with stonework and carpentry projects.
What We Offer
- Meaningful Work: Work on projects that make a direct positive impact on ecological health. We have a small team so your unique skill set and contributions matter.
- Hands-On Training: You'll have daily, one on one working opportunities with the owner. This facilitates learning experiences for growth and development into the nuances of restorative ecology and horticulture.
- Employee-Focused Culture: We believe in creating a positive, supportive team environment where you can thrive. We value competitive pay and positive work-life balance.
Who We’re Looking For
- Dependable, hardworking, and motivated individuals who want to contribute to sustainable landscaping projects.
- Ideal candidates will have prior experience in landscaping, ecological work, or farming, but we’re also excited to train those who are enthusiastic and have a strong work ethic.
- Employees who want to contribute to our work environment, and/or who hope to someday start their own business.
- Truck/Trailer driving experience is ideal.
Job Responsibilities
- Garden Maintenance - We utilize our understanding of plant dynamics and natural processes to facilitate a garden towards biodiversity and health. Specific tasks will include: Weeding, pruning, hedging, mulching, and invasive plant management.
- Meadow and woodland restoration and management - We minimize soil disturbance in these areas, but utilize techniques to discourage invasive species and guide these evolving landscapes into vibrant life giving ecosystems.
- Installing native plant gardens, raingardens.
- Truck/Trailer Driving - Not essential, but ideal candidates will have the ability to drive trailer/work truck.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift 50lbs or more.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions (heat, cold, wet, buggy, etc.) and perform physically demanding tasks like digging and weeding for extended periods.
Compensation
- Starting pay ranges from $22-$25/hour, based on prior experience, work ethic, and communication skills. Candidates requiring higher compensation are still encouraged to apply.
- Pay increases as you demonstrate skills and commitment.
If you’re excited about the opportunity to work in a collaborative team environment, learn new skills in ecological landscaping, and make a meaningful impact, we want to hear from you.
