This position is part-time April 1- October 15; part-time hours may be available before and after those dates. Candidate must be available to work Mon, Tues & Fri (8am- 4pm) . There may be additional hours available to cover for co-workers or special projects.

Jim & Mary’s RV Park is a regionally recognized, family-owned and operated RV Park outside of Missoula at the Wye. Our RV Park is unique not only for our charm, but also for our dedicated gardens. We are fortunate to be able to grow all of our annuals and perennials from seed/cuttings and have a dedicated landscaping team that manages our numerous flower beds and natural areas. Our gardens blend ornamental and native plants to create unique pocket gardens that are not only visually striking, but also provide habitat and food sources for native wildlife and insects. Jim and Mary's is a local gem that has customers (and locals) returning year after year.

Purpose:

The garden specialist supports the garden manager in day-to-day operations and special projects. After training, the garden specialist should be able to work independently and alongside other gardening staff with minimal supervision. Performance evaluations will be at 30 and 90 days.

Job Duties:

• Greenhouse work: potting up plugs, building hanging baskets and decorative containers. Daily watering of plants.
• Garden maintenance: pruning, clipping, raking, dead heading, weeding, daily watering.
• Planting and dividing plants in the spring and fall
• Communicating with garden manager and staff about watering, pest or disease issues.
• Setting up and taking down of seasonal decorations. Maintenance of decorations as needed.
• Creating and assisting with seasonal displays.
• Assisting with seasonal projects and/or providing inspiration for new decorative ideas.
• Maintaining staff vegetable garden and assisting with seasonal harvest.

Primary Functions:

• Ability to multitask, work independently and collaborate with others as part of the gardening crew in a professional and friendly manner.
• Must be physically able to perform all required tasks including lifting, bending, digging, and kneeling
• Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Candidates must be willing to work weekends
• High School diploma required

Looking for Team Members With:

Ability to perform physical labor:

• Lift 30-50 lbs.
• Prolonged kneeling, crouching, bending
• Work in all weather conditions

Communication skills:

• Communicate with garden manager about daily plan, special projects and any issues or questions in the gardens or park.
• Collaborate with staff and communicate with other managers as needed.
• Interact with and assist guests as needed.

Work ethic:

• Ability to be self-motivated and find tasks to complete without direct supervision.
• Continue to work in all weather conditions.
• Ability to problem solve independently and ask manager for assistance when needed.

Garden experience:

Prior gardening experience and plant ID skills preferred but not required. Garden specialist must have a passion for plants, low impact gardening practices and learning how to identify new plants, weeds, pests and diseases.

Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
