Gas Plant Operator - QatarEnergy (State Oil & Gas Employer)

QatarEnergy is Qatar’s state-owned national oil and gas company. It operates exploration, production, refining, transport and storage of petroleum, LNG, and related products.

A Gas Plant Operator is responsible for operating and monitoring natural gas processing facilities to ensure safe, efficient, and continuous production.

At QatarEnergy, this role is usually based in Ras Laffan, Dukhan, Mesaieed, or offshore platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

Plant Operations

Operate and monitor gas processing equipment (compressors, separators, pumps, pipelines)

Control plant operations using DCS/SCADA systems

Start-up and shutdown plant units according to procedures

Monitoring & Control

Monitor pressure, temperature, and flow rates

Adjust process parameters to maintain safe production

Record operational data and equipment readings

Maintenance Support

Assist maintenance teams during shutdowns and repairs

Inspect equipment for leaks, faults, or abnormal conditions

Safety & Compliance

Follow strict HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) standards

Perform gas testing and permit-to-work (PTW) checks

Respond to emergencies (gas leaks, equipment failure)

Reporting

Maintain shift logs and operational reports

Communicate with control room and supervisors

Requirements:

High school diploma + technical training (mechanical/process field preferred)

Experience in oil & gas / petrochemical plant operations

Knowledge of pumps, compressors, valves, pipelines

Familiarity with DCS operations

Ability to work in shift rotations (day/night/offshore if required)
