Gastroenterology/Internal Medicine Licensed Nurse Practitioner min 2 years experience

The Nurse Practitioner (NP) will work under the supervision of Dr. Chukwuemeka Ezeoke, providing high-quality internal medicine/ gastroenterology care to patients in both the clinic and procedural setting. The NP will assist in patient evaluation, management, education, and coordination of care.

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive patient evaluations, including medical history, physical examinations, and review of systems.
  • Evaluate new gastroenterology referrals and follow-up patients.
  • Diagnose and manage common gastrointestinal conditions, including but not limited to:
  • GERD
  • IBS
  • IBD (Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis)
  • Chronic constipation
  • Chronic diarrhea
  • Liver disease
  • Fatty liver disease
  • GI bleeding
  • Dyspepsia
  • Order and interpret laboratory tests, imaging studies, and diagnostic procedures.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with the supervising physician.
  • Prescribe medications and therapies consistent with Texas NP scope of practice and collaborative agreement.

Procedure-Related Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and prepare patients for endoscopic procedures, including colonoscopy and EGD.
  • Obtain informed consent for procedures when appropriate.
  • Perform pre-procedure and post-procedure evaluations.
  • Assist with post-procedure care and follow-up management.
  • Manage pathology results and communicate findings to patients.

Patient Care and Education

  • Educate patients on gastrointestinal diseases, prevention, and treatment plans.
  • Counsel patients regarding colon cancer screening, lifestyle modifications, and medication adherence.
  • Provide clear instructions regarding procedure preparation and post-procedure care.

Documentation

  • Maintain accurate and timely electronic medical records (EMR) using ECW.
  • Document history, examinations, assessments, and treatment plans.
  • Complete procedure notes, follow-up documentation, and patient communications.

Care Coordination

  • Coordinate care with:
  • Primary care physicians
  • Specialists
  • Hospitals
  • Imaging centers
  • Manage referrals and follow-up appointments.
  • Review and respond to patient messages, phone calls, and lab results.

Clinic Operations

  • See approximately 15-20+ patients per day depending on clinic schedule.
  • Support efficient clinic flow and patient satisfaction.
  • Participate in quality improvement and practice growth initiatives.

Compliance and Professional Standards

  • Maintain Texas Nurse Practitioner licensure and national certification.
  • Adhere to HIPAA, OSHA, and clinical safety guidelines.
  • Follow all practice protocols and physician supervision requirements.

Additional Duties

  • Participate in colon cancer awareness and patient education initiatives.
  • Assist with practice growth and community outreach when needed.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the supervising physician.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: Up to $110,000.00 per year
