GCP Support Engineer

The Operational Support Specialist is responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of Google Cloud Platform infrastructure and applications. The role involves developing deployment and monitoring capabilities and performing proactive monitoring, incident response, troubleshooting, and maintenance of cloud services with a focus on VIP applications built using NodeJS and Java. The specialist works closely with development and engineering teams to optimize performance, enhance reliability, and implement best practices within GitHub Enterprise and GCP environments. The role requires a strong understanding of cloud computing concepts including IaaS PaaS and serverless architectures. Responsibilities include monitoring and managing GCP services such as Cloud Run Bigtable Secrets Manager Cloud Storage and Cloud Monitoring to ensure performance and availability. The specialist responds to and resolves incidents and alerts related to GCP infrastructure and applications including on call support when required. Routine maintenance patching and upgrades of GCP resources and related software are performed along with the implementation and maintenance of monitoring logging and alerting solutions using GCP tools. Application support includes troubleshooting NodeJS and Java applications analyzing logs identifying root causes collaborating with development teams to understand application architecture and deployment patterns and assisting with deployment and configuration including Docker based containerized deployments. The role also includes developing and maintaining automation scripts using Python or Bash identifying performance optimization and cost reduction opportunities and contributing to continuous improvement of operational processes and documentation. Core skills include GCP application development and troubleshooting in NodeJS and Java scripting with Python and Bash and Docker.
