Job Summary

At CHOC/Rady’s, we are reimagining the future of pediatric healthcare through the power of AI. Our team is building a secure, scalable, and mission-aligned Generative AI platform to power intelligent assistants, automate workflows, and enable ML-driven decision support.
We are seeking a Generative AI Engineer to architect, build, and maintain the infrastructure and services that support our GenAI applications. This is a hands-on technical role ideal for an engineer who thrives at the intersection of ML infrastructure, backend systems, and real-world impact.

Pay Range

Minimum $115,606 Midpoint $153,150 Maximum $190,736

Rate of pay is determined by various factors, including but not limited to knowledge, skills, competencies, experience, education, as well as position requirements.

Experience

  • Required: 5+ years of experience in industry experience in software engineering
  • Strong software engineering skills
  • Experience building large-scale distributed systems
  • Experience with developing ML and GenAI applications
  • Utilize frameworks for building agentic AI systems, and utilizing them in building end-to-end multi-agent applications

Preferred:

  • Experience with application performance tuning and optimization

Education

Required: Bachelor’s in Computer Science, or related discipline.

Training

Required:

  • Proficiency in Python and backend frameworks (e.g., FastAPI, Flask).
  • Experience with cloud platforms (preferably AWS) and tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Strong knowledge of API development, microservices, and serverless architectures.
  • Experience with LLMs, retrieval-augmented generation and vector database solutions.

Preferred:

  • Experience with MLOps or deploying machine learning models in production.
  • Experience with JavaScript (React, Node.js)

Specialized Skills

Required : Effective communication skills and the ability to articulate complex technical ideas to cross-disciplinary internal and external stakeholders.

  • Familiarity with tools such as LangChain, LlamaIndex, Pinecone, Weaviate, or FAISS.
  • Experience deploying or managing OpenAI/Vertex AI integrations.
  • Knowledge of healthcare data standards and privacy regulations (e.g., FHIR, HIPAA).
  • Experience with Databricks, Spark, or similar distributed data platforms.
  • Experience with CI/CD implementations using git and a common CI/CD stack (e.g., Azure DevOps, CloudBuild, Jenkins, CircleCI, GitLab)
