An accountant with two years of UAE experience typically serves as a general or junior accountant handling daily bookkeeping, bank reconciliations, accounts payable/receivable, and VAT filings
Core Responsibilities
- VAT Compliance: Prepare and file accurate VAT returns through the Federal Tax Authority (FTA) and calculate import/export VAT on free zone and mainland shipments.
- Accounts Payable & Receivable: Process supplier invoices, verify LPOs, issue customer invoices, monitor aging reports, and coordinate follow-ups
- Reconciliation: Perform daily and monthly bank reconciliations, inter-company reconciliations, and supplier statement verifications.
- Payroll Processing: Process monthly payroll through the Wages Protection System (WPS) to ensure legal compliance with UAE labor laws.
- Month-End Closing: Assist senior accountants with preparing balance sheets, profit and loss (P&L) statements, and adjusting journal entries.
- Financial Reporting: Generate customized financial reports using accounting software to support management decision-making.
Key Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent professional qualifications like ACCA, CA, or CPA).
- UAE Experience: 2 to 3 years of localized corporate experience. A strong, working understanding of UAE Corporate Tax and UAE Labour Law is highly prioritized.
- Software Proficiency: Advanced knowledge of MS Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables) and experience using localized ERPs/software like Tally Prime, Zoho Books, QuickBooks, or SAP.
- Communication: Fluency in English (spoken and written); Arabic or Hindi is often preferred
