The General Dentist provides direct patient care to children and adults. The general dentist is responsible for repairing and removing teeth, diagnosing conditions and communicating with patients about how to best care for their teeth and gums. Duties include:

Fixing or removing damaged teeth

Filling cavities
-
Performing exams and evaluating x-rays to determine a patient’s health
-
Developing treatment plans to deal with any dental health issues
-
Administering or prescribing medications to decrease pain and improve patient health
-
Interacting with patients and instruct them on proper oral care
-
Measuring and fitting dental appliances
-
Referring patients to a specialist if needed
-
Treat school-age children (K-4th grade)
Education: Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry (DMD) degree from an accredited dental program
Licensure: Current license to practice dentistry in the State of Texas and a current DEA. Current in Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers (BLS)
Experience: Prefer experience but will consider new graduate.
Expertise: Knowledge in all areas of general dentistry.
Language: English; bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
Travel: Occasionally; valid Texas drivers’ license and current auto insurance required; must have reliable and safe transportation

Must possess sufficient skill at performing both straightforward and complex tooth extractions, including open technique (surgical) extractions.
