The main purpose of the General Foreman’s job is to supervise the execution of construction works of a specific discipline or section, and ensure those works are being executed in a timely and cost efficient matter and in line with set specifications
- Diploma in a related field
- Excellent leadership, interpersonal, communications, organization / project management skills, and a proven ability to motivate and manage teams
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in a comparable sized operation to ESEC
- Knowledge of construction sequences and methods
- Experience in the Middle East is a strong plus
- Fluent in English and preferably Arabic language
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Reports directly to the Superintendent
- Assists the Superintendent in all operational activities of a project’s specific discipline or a section of the project’s site
- Manages the operations construction team that is headed by foremen and assigns tasks and monitors progress
- Ensures that work is completed as per set schedule and quality standards
- Coordinates with the Superintendent to ensure that the works are executed as per the drawings and as per the technical requirements
- Ensures that all drawings are available to his teams, and coordinates with Engineers to ensure that job executions are as per technical requirements
- Prepares progress sketches on daily basis from each discipline Foreman
- Monitors the equipment on site and ensures that all teams are performing their jobs and that all Foremen are taking care of their duties and performing their commitments
- Conducts daily safety inspections within the site/section and ensures safe deployment of equipment
- Monitors all logistics (water, transportation, etc.) for his disciplines, tools, etc.
- Reports materials and tools needed on site, and follows up in case of any shortage
- Responsible for filling equipment and workers’ timesheets
- Gathers all information regarding man-hours, and analyzes whether his teams’ efficiency is adequate or needs improvement
- Conducts tool box talks
- Performs other tasks as delegated by the Superintendent
- Provides support for the professional development (including training) of direct reports
