Painter – Grounds Maintenance Responsibilities:
- Engages in industrial painting activities plantwide indoors and outdoors.
- Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment.
- Assures that equipment and supplies are kept in safe, clean and working order.
- Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations.
- Operates a forklift, JLG lift, and man lift.
- Assists maintenance and affiliated departments with trash removal, cleaning inside blending tanks, and pressure washing activities.
- Assists in loading empty drums on drum trailer.
- Assists hole watch as needed.
- Assists Employee Environment in cleaning and maintenance duties.
- Performs tasks on production lines as needed.
Painter – Grounds Maintenance routinely:
- Prepares and removes grease, dirt, paint or rust from project surfaces in preparation for paint application.
- Primes and paints – often with specialized materials and equipment industrial surfaces indoors and outdoors.
- Mixes chemicals and cleans machines with sandpaper, solvent, and wiping rags to prepare surfaces for painting.
- Monitors paint operations to identify flaws such as blisters or streaks and corrects blemish as well as cause.
- Cleans work area and equipment.
- Disposes of all hazardous materials in an appropriate manner.
- Uses abrasives, solvents, brushes, blowtorches, washing tanks and sandblaster as needed
- Works autonomously and independently with minimal supervision.
- Reads work orders, uses technology for communication, write reports, send out correspondence, and complete paperwork.
- Engages in multiple projects simultaneously.
- Carries tools and equipment to and from storage, working areas, warehouse, and plant property.
- Moves furniture, boxes, and equipment as directed.
- Erects or dismantles working platforms in warehouse areas where machines and people are present.
- Performs and assists in daily, weekly, monthly PMs on equipment.
- Assists in dismantling and rebuilding machinery.
- Assists in replacing, repairing and pouring concrete for foundations.
- Digs trenches for machinery foundations.
- Engages in direct contact with customers and other employees.
- Performs other job-related duties that may be assigned.
Qualifications:
- Minimum High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Mandatory – forklift certification or ability to be certified. ZXP will train qualified candidates.
- Ability to meet deadlines and adjust to changing priorities.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety instructions, directions, and operating and maintenance instructions.
- Mandatory Language, Writing, and Computer Skills:
- Read, write, and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group presentations to customers, clients, and other employees of ZXP.
- Basic computer skills and knowledge of software using Microsoft Outlook and Word.
- Basic math skills to solve practical problems and interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule formats.
- Specific vision abilities are required to perform this job. They include, but are not limited to distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Reasoning ability to follow instructions and work autonomously.
- Ability to lift up to 70lbs and wear a respirator.
Physical Demand and Work Conditions:
- A high volume of walking, sitting, and standing is part of the daily schedule.
- Maintenance employees routinely use their hands to finger, handle, or feel.
- Frequently lift and or move up to 100 pounds.
- Maintenance employees are often required to operate equipment and provide support in seasonal outdoor areas or warehouses that may include the use of man lifts and ladders while performing duties at heights, and with hand tools in tight or closed spaces.
- All ZXP employees are exposed to weather conditions consistent with the Texas region.
- Maintenance employees are frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, machinery, and equipment, with the potential for electrical shock, and exposure to high noise levels typical of a manufacturing plant with occasional exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals.
