General Manager

A leading Global Testing, Inspection & Certification (TIC) business is seeking a General Manager. This role offers a strong opportunity to further develop your professional career within a large international organization.

As a key member of the Middle East and Asia/Asia Pacific (MEAAP) Senior Management Team, you will report to the Division Director and take a strategic leadership role in the overall management and development of the Qatar testing business. Responsibilities include administration, P&L ownership, growth initiatives, organizational capability, operational structure, and general management of the country business.

This position will be based in Doha, Qatar.

Responsibilities:

• Profit and Loss responsibility and accountability for laboratory financial performance
• Drive and execute operational performance and deliver results in line with forecasts and expectations
• Ensure development of technical services and processes in support of growth strategy with prime focus on testing services relating to the construction, oil & gas, environmental, food and general industrial sector and ensure that customer’s technical, quality and delivery requirements are satisfied
• Work with the sales team to set targets to ensure budgeted sales are achieved and serve as a key relationship partner for high level customer engagements
• Ensure that reports and quotes satisfy requirements for contract review, technical content, and minimize legal risk
• Effectively deploy a management toolbox with analysis to drive appropriate KPI’s/metric improvement and develop and build a high performing team
• Ensure compliance with corporate policies and practices for Health Safety & Environment and Quality

Skills / Qualifications:

• Recognized engineering, management or professional qualification with at least 8 – 12 years management experience and strong understanding of working in the services sector in Qatar
• Proven track record of delivering organic growth through the development and implementation of ‘best practice’ management principles at various levels (i.e. recruitment, orientation, performance management, training, talent management and reward in order to enhance organizational capability and provide the optimum structure to execute the plans and have managed multinational and multicultural teams
• Experience of working with and presenting to senior management teams and management boards
• Strong networking, presentation, communication and interpersonal skills are required along with strong time management, organizational and analytical skills
