The General Operations Manager provides day-to-day leadership and oversight for a distinct operation, department, or business unit. This role ensures safe, efficient, and customer-focused execution of services while supporting team development, asset management, and compliance with company policies and regulatory standards. The General Operations Manager is a hands-on leader who learns quickly, drives operational improvements, and fosters a culture of safety and accountability in alignment with Savage’s Strategic Framework.
This role will support various operations across a variety of Savage sites and as such will require frequent, regular travel throughout the Savage network.
Here is what you will be doing:- Manage multiple operations across various regions and market with a diverse team member environment and customer base
- Learn, implement, teach, and execute the S7 Operating System
- Promote a safety culture where each team member has the value and attitude that unsafe behaviors and conditions will not happen on their shift
- Ability to maintain equipment and facility
- Committed to teaching and promoting personal responsibility for identifying and performing safe behaviors, conditions, and environmental responsibility
- Positive leader with the ability to be proactive in problem solving, making decisions, organizing and directing people, and utilizing coaching techniques for improving behaviors
- Hands-on leadership with operational and technical skills to ensure that "best practices" are being utilized in an environment where people are committed to professionalism and cleanliness
- Create an environment for team building with emphasis on individual development and growth
Skills/Qualifications
- Preferable experience with rail, transload, and refinery operations
Demonstrated ability to lead diverse teams across multiple functions and locations
- Demonstrated problem solving skills
- Financial acumen with the ability to analyze budgets, forecasts, and operational data
- Ability to identify and develop business opportunities
- Business development/commercial experience
- Experience managing safety and regulatory requirements
- Demonstrated organizational skills supporting multiple operations and managing multiple priorities
- Demonstrated ability to recruit, mentor and develop a team of leaders
