Overseeing Operations at Scramble Alexandria, Scramble Falls Church, and Scramble Parkour Shirlington
Scramble Play Group is seeking a highly skilled and dynamic Associate General Manager to oversee daily business operations across our three locations. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who is friendly, outgoing, and able to motivate large, diverse teams while maintaining Scramble’s exceptional standard of guest services.
The General Manager plays a key role in ensuring each location delivers clean, safe, fun play experiences while maintaining high operational standards. Successful candidates will be enthusiastic, reliable, strategic thinkers who thrive in a fast-paced environment and can drive performance, develop teams, and maintain excellence across multiple facilities.
This role requires strong leadership, exceptional communication, and a deep commitment to guest experience and team development. Compensation includes Scramble perks such as cafe meals, play, parties, and retail, and a competitive salary based on experience.
- Oversee day-to-day operations of all Scramble locations (Alexandria, Falls Church, Parkour Shirlington), ensuring consistent execution of Scramble standards in guest service, safety, and cleanliness.
- Lead and support location leadership teams—including Supervisors, Shift Leads, Café Leads, and Department Leads—to maintain high performance and strong team morale.
- Ensure each location delivers a warm, friendly, and best-in-class guest experience for families, children, and party guests.
- Monitor and evaluate location performance through daily communication, weekly review of business operations, and hands on in-person task training.
- Recruit, train, develop, and mentor leadership teams at each site.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and collaborative work culture across all Scramble properties.
- Implement ongoing training, coaching, and accountability practices.
- Ensure all staff follow established Scramble policies, safety protocols, and operational standards.
- Ensure adherence to Scramble’s health, hygiene, and safety protocols across all sites.
- Oversee facility maintenance needs, coordinating with internal teams and external vendors to ensure equipment, play structures, and café areas remain in excellent condition.
- Support incident management and guest conflict resolution when escalated beyond the location level.
- Maintain consistent, high-quality customer service standards across all locations.
- Respond to escalated guest concerns professionally, ensuring issues are resolved promptly and thoroughly.
- Serve as the champion of the guest experience, identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing solutions.
- Oversee revenue goals, labor budgets, and cost controls by staff scheduling and inventory management
- Support inventory processes across retail, café, and cleaning supplies to maintain profitability.
- Ensure accurate reporting, scheduling practices, and operational compliance.
- Support planning and execution of events, promotions, and birthday party promotions.
- Work closely with headquarters and the Director of Business Operations to plan operational improvements and long-term strategy.
- Analyze business trends, identify opportunities for growth, and implement changes to support scalability and excellence.
- Ensure consistency in brand standards, culture, and guest experience across the entire Scramble Play Group.
- Proven leadership experience managing multi-unit operations or a large-format facility (preferred: hospitality, family entertainment, retail, recreation, or food service).
- Strong interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills; able to lead through influence and example.
- Skilled in operational problem-solving, conflict resolution, and decision-making.
- Demonstrated ability to build, develop, and retain high-performing teams.
- Responsible, dependable, and proactive with strong organizational and follow-through abilities.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-energy environment.
- ServSafe or Food Manager License. CPR and First Aid certification (preferred).
- High school diploma or equivalent (required).
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 3–5 years of supervisory or management experience, ideally overseeing multiple teams or locations.
- Experience in retail, restaurant, event planning, recreation, hospitality, or family entertainment is highly valued.
- Strong customer service background required.
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to walk, bend, kneel, or move throughout play facilities.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
- Fast-paced, high-energy, multi-tasked work setting.
- Must be able to travel between three Scramble locations regularly.
- Availability on weekends and federal holidays (Scramble is closed on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day).
