General Manager – Heritage Steel, LLC

Location: Salisbury NC

Reports To: Owner / CEO

Position Type: Full-Time | On-Site

Role Overview

The General Manager (GM) is responsible for overseeing all business operations including production, logistics, dealer management, finance, and human resources. This leader will ensure consistent quality, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction. The GM will also drive growth by improving internal systems, expanding dealer networks, and supporting new market initiatives in alignment with company goals.

Key Responsibilities

Operations & Manufacturing

  • Implement lean processes to improve output and reduce waste.
  • Monitor equipment performance and oversee maintenance schedules.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, environmental, and safety regulations.
  • Track daily KPIs including throughput, scrap rates, and delivery performance.

Supply Chain & Procurement

  • Manage by reports optimal inventory levels aligned with sales forecasts.
  • Manage by reports purchasing, receiving, and vendor performance reviews.

Sales & Dealer Network

  • Collaberate with marketing to generate new business and strengthen brand presence.
  • Oversee pricing structures, contracts, and incentive programs.
  • Review dealer feedback and performance analytics regularly.

Quality & Customer Experience

  • Manage rigorous quality control standards through all stages of production.
  • Oversee warranty claim management and root-cause improvement processes.
  • Enhance the customer journey through communication and service consistency.
  • Ensure customer feedback is tracked and acted upon promptly.

Financial Management

  • Create annual budgets, manage P&L statements, and monitor operating costs.
  • Analyze profitability across product lines, regions, and dealer groups.
  • Identify efficiency improvements and capital investment priorities.
  • Ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance.

Leadership & People Development

  • Lead by example, fostering accountability and teamwork across departments.
  • Mentor managers and staff to build leadership depth and succession plans.
  • Promote an ownership mindset through performance incentives and recognition.
  • Maintain clear communication channels across all departments.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Operations Management, or related field (MBA preferred).
  • 10+ years of progressive leadership in steel manufacturing, construction, or industrial operations.
  • Proven track record in plant management, logistics, or multi-site operations.
  • Strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting, and P&L management.
  • Experience leading dealer or distributor-based sales models preferred.
  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to inspire teams, build relationships, and execute strategic plans.

Performance Metrics (KPIs)

  • On-time delivery percentage.
  • Production yield and scrap reduction.
  • Dealer satisfaction and retention rate.
  • Operating margin and cost efficiency improvements.
  • Customer satisfaction and warranty claim ratios.
  • Employee retention and safety incident rate.
