Responsibilities:
-
Lead the mechanical design and drafting of process plants and special-purpose machinery from concept to fabrication.
-
Prepare and review 2D and 3D drawings, including equipment layouts, general arrangement (GA) drawings, detailed fabrication drawings, and Plant 3D Models.
-
Develop and update PFDs (Process Flow Diagrams) and P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams) in coordination with process and instrumentation teams. Demonstrate strong working knowledge of PFDs, P&IDs, and their integration with mechanical and process design.

Perform equipment sizing calculations (pumps, blowers, tanks, etc.) based on process requirements.

Design and develop mechanical systems, structures, and custom machines for plant operations.

Ensure designs meet process functionality, safety, manufacturability, and cost-effectiveness criteria.

Coordinate with other teams to ensure design integration across disciplines.

Conduct design reviews and manage drawing/document revision control.

Evaluate vendor drawings and ensure compliance with technical specifications and standards.

Supervise fabrication, erection, and installation teams to ensure systems are constructed and installed in compliance with design and safety standards.

Oversee the installation and commissioning of commercial chemical plants. Provide technical support during fabrication, assembly, and commissioning phases.

Coordinate closely with senior mechanical design engineers for finalization of equipment design and plant layouts. Mentor junior engineers and drafters in design best practices and standards.
Requirements:
-
15+ years of experience in mechanical design and plant engineering, preferably in process, recycling, chemical, or manufacturing/heavy fabrication industries.

Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D) and 3D modeling tools such as SolidWorks.

Strong experience in special-purpose machine design, equipment integration, and custom mechanical systems.

Working knowledge of PFDs, P&IDs, and their relation to mechanical and process design.

Sound understanding of equipment sizing and selection (pumps, valves, tanks, blowers, etc.).

Familiarity with fabrication drawings, material specifications, and GD&T practices.
-
Experience in layout planning, mechanical assemblies, and skid/module design.
-
Familiarity with environmental compliance, waste management, and pollution control equipment.
-
Good understanding of process and plant utilities, piping interfaces, and safety requirements.
-
Familiarity with international design codes and standards (ASME, ISO, etc.).
-
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
