About the Role
We are seeking a General Manager – Grocery & Food to build, scale, and own one of Superchat’s most critical verticals. This leader will be responsible for the full P&L, growth strategy, merchant partnerships, pricing, unit economics, and operational performance of the grocery and food category. The GM will work cross-functionally with Product, AI, Operations, Marketing, and Finance to make Superchat the default way users order groceries and food through chat.
Responsibilities
Category Strategy & P&L Ownership

Own full P&L for Grocery & Food vertical

Define category growth strategy, pricing, and margin structure

Set and achieve GMV, revenue, and contribution margin targets

Drive expansion into new subcategories and markets
Merchant & Partner Management

Acquire and manage key grocery retailers, supermarkets, and restaurant partners

Negotiate commercial agreements and commission structures
-
Ensure inventory accuracy, pricing integrity, and service quality

Build long-term strategic partnerships with major brands
Operational Excellence

Optimize fulfillment flows, delivery SLAs, and reliability metrics

Collaborate with Operations to reduce cancellations and improve order success rate

Improve average basket size, repeat rates, and customer retention
Product & AI Collaboration

Work closely with Product and AI teams to enhance conversational ordering flows

Define category-specific workflows (substitutions, preferences, upsells)

Identify automation opportunities to improve margin and user experience
Growth & Marketing

Partner with Growth and Marketing to drive acquisition and repeat usage

Design promotional strategies and merchant-funded campaigns

Leverage data insights to optimize conversion and engagement
Data & Performance Management

Establish KPIs for GMV, margin, order success rate, repeat frequency, and NPS

Analyze unit economics and continuously improve contribution margin

Present monthly business performance to executive leadership
Qualifications

8–12+ years of experience in grocery, food delivery, marketplaces, or e-commerce

Proven P&L ownership experience in a high-growth environment

Strong commercial negotiation and partnership skills

Deep understanding of unit economics and category margin optimization

Experience working cross-functionally with product and operations teams

Entrepreneurial mindset with strong execution capability
