About the Role

A well-established manufacturing organisation is seeking an experienced General Manager – Operations to lead its end-to-end business operations. This senior role is critical in driving strategic growth, operational excellence, and commercial performance across the organisation.

The ideal candidate will be a hands-on, strategic leader with a strong background in manufacturing operations and P&L management, capable of steering the business through its next phase of growth.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Leadership & Business Planning

• Lead the development and execution of operational strategies.
• Drive continuous improvement and long-term business growth.
• Align operations with overall corporate objectives.

2. Sales & Commercial Management

• Strengthen key customer relationships and support revenue growth.
• Oversee commercial strategy and ensure competitive market positioning.

3. Operational Oversight

• Lead production, quality, and supply chain performance.
• Ensure operational efficiency, productivity, and cost optimisation.
• Oversee delivery performance and support process improvements.

4. Financial & P&L Leadership

• Own the profit and loss performance of the business.
• Manage budgets, forecasting, and financial targets.
• Ensure robust financial controls and cost discipline.

5. Team Leadership & Organisational Development

• Build, mentor, and empower a high-performing management team.
• Foster a culture of accountability, safety, and excellence.
• Support talent development and organisational capability building.

6. Compliance & Risk Management

• Ensure adherence to regulatory, quality, and safety standards.
• Identify and mitigate business risks across operations.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential:

• Proven experience as a General Manager or senior operations leader in manufacturing or packaging.
• Leadership experience across multiple business functions.
• Strong financial and P&L management capability.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
• Strategic thinker with strong analytical decision-making abilities.

Desirable:

• Exposure to international markets or export-focused operations.
• Strong commercial acumen and understanding of global trade dynamics.
