Progress Solar Solutions, LLC is seeking a well-rounded, energetic General Manager to lead its business located at 1108 N New Hope Road, Raleigh NC.

About the Company:

Progress Solar (PSS) is a +15-year-old, privately owned, enterprise recognized as an industry leader in the growing, mobile solar equipment space. Progress Solar designs, builds and ships mobile solar equipment to a diverse and growing customer base both domestically and internationally. Product offerings include mobile solar light trailers, surveillance trailers, solar power generators and communications platforms.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will have direct oversight of all day-to-day aspects of the business along with meaningful input on the development of future initiatives. This includes leadership of all business aspects including technical, development, production, supply chain, sales and administrative functions. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on, results-driven leader who provides command and control in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and is committed to operational excellence and profitability.

This is a salaried position, on site, M-F, first shift. Compensation for this position will be tailored to the experience, abilities, and potential for the candidate.

The General Manager will be responsible for:

Sales

The GM will be responsible to ensure the sales function is responsive and attentive to customer requests. This includes adherence to established pricing guidelines for parts and equipment along with sustained cultivation of existing and future sales channels. A keen focus on the “voice of the customer” and other smart business development activities will ensure a robust funnel of quoting and ongoing outbound orders. PSS benefits from both international and domestic distributors of its products.

Operations

The GM will be responsible to ensure that manufacturing and supply chain functions are efficient and thoughtful in daily delivery of high-quality and cost-effective equipment to customers. Primary goals include consistent focus on safety, quality, cost, and on-time delivery. Success in this aspect requires strong delegation, clear communication, and consistent follow-through to ensure these activities take place in a well-coordinated manner.

Manufacturing, purchasing and inventory control functions report directly to the General Manager. The GM will ensure these activities align with production needs by minimizing excess inventory, reducing waste, and proactively addressing those things that may become operational disruptions.

Administration

The GM is expected to champion and reinforce a culture of safety, quality, customer service, and continuous improvement.

The GM has full authority to structure teams and delegate responsibilities in the manner deemed best to achieve company objectives.

The GM will be directly incentivized by bottom-line performance and as such will have full responsibility for financial performance.

The GM will have responsibility to ensure accurate and timely administrative processes (AR, AP, Payroll, Tax filings) support the business needs. The GM will direct the scope of work for external consultants to ensure business needs are met.

The GM will use data to drive and support business decisions. This includes regular interaction with and oversight of ERP and other systems.

The successful candidate will bring:

· 10 years or more of direct manufacturing and/or supply chain experience.

· Experience with Quality assurance programs.

· An entrepreneurial willingness to learn.

· Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving and communication skills.

· A working knowledge of 5S, continuous improvement, work standards and similar management methodologies.

· The ability to read and understand technical drawings, mechanical diagrams, electrical schematics, and bills of materials.

· Sound judgement and leadership skills

· ERP systems experience.

· Consistent follow up and follow through.

· Ability to multitask and problem solve.

· Strong organizational skills and time management skills.

· Intermediate to advanced working knowledge of commonly used office software including Outlook, Excel, and Word.

Preference given to candidates who bring:

· 10 years or more of demonstrated leadership and management skills in a manufacturing setting

· College degree

· Experience with Global Shop ERP system

  • Ability to sit at a desk for 6-8 hours a day

  • Normal plant and/or office environment, including working at heights, high/low ambient temperatures, and high humidity areas
  • Bending and Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist
  • Climbing: Ascending or descending ladders, scaffolding, ramps, poles, and other devises using feet and legs and/or hands and arms
  • Carrying: Light: Physically transporting items weighing less than 15 pounds from one location to another, Moderate: Items weighing 15 to 44 pounds
  • Kneeling: Bending legs at knees to come to rest on one or both knees
  • Light Lifting: Raising objects under 15 pounds from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from one position to another
  • Repetitive motion: Substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers for sustained periods of time
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work schedules of others on short-term basis
  • Grasping: Applying pressure to an object with fingers (including thumb) and palm
  • Visual Requirement: Enough to be able to see and read PC screens; detect color coding, read fine print, and/or normal type size print (6+ hours per day)
  • Hearing Requirement: Enough to clearly hear and understand communication from others

Pay: $95,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
