The Role

We are hiring a General Operations Lead to own everything operational—from digital systems to micro‑factory performance to fragrance procurement and 3PL. You’ll be the architect of smooth execution, partnering directly with the Founder and building the backbone that enables Scentwork and retail to scale globally. A Facility Manager will report to you and run day‑to‑day production.

This is not a narrow role—it’s for a tech‑savvy, organized, proactive builder who thrives at the intersection of physical and digital.

Responsibilities

  • Facility launch & management: Oversee site readiness, permits, EHS programs, and the Facility Manager’s daily production leadership.
  • Digital pipeline: Own the order → artwork → UV print → UID/QR → fill → ship flow; partner with Tech Ops to ensure real‑time telemetry and payout accuracy.
  • Fragrance procurement & supply chain: Secure bases, bottles, boxes, and cards; set min/max; negotiate lead times/MOQs; prevent stock‑outs.
  • 3PL & logistics: Manage SLAs; ensure OTIF ≥98%; optimize carrier induction and costs.
  • Quality & compliance: Implement QMS, eDHR, IFRA/GHS/CLP labeling, SDS workflows; lead CAPA and mock recalls.
  • People & culture: Hire and coach ops staff; set a certification ladder; run tiered daily stand‑ups; instill zero‑incident culture.
  • KPIs & improvement: Deliver RFT ≥99.5%, OEE ≥65% rising to ≥72%; reduce cost‑to‑serve by 10–20%; lead SMED, root cause, and kaizen.
  • Playbooks: Create replication SOPs and launch checklists for future sites.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years in operations leadership (CPG, cosmetics/beauty, packaging, food/bev, or high‑mix light assembly). Start‑up or scale‑up experience a strong plus.
  • Proven success running or commissioning automated/semi‑automated lines (conveyors, cobots, UV printing, precision filling, label/print‑apply, vision/weight/torque gates).
  • Tech‑savvy: comfortable with MES/WMS/ERP, APIs, Illustrator scripting workflows, SQL basics, and real‑time dashboards.
  • Strong people leadership: hired and led 20–50+ operations staff across shifts; built cross‑training and certification ladders.
  • Experience with EHS programs, flammable/DG environments, and regulatory compliance.
  • Hands‑on: able to triage faults, interpret data streams, and make real‑time decisions.
  • Bachelor’s in engineering, operations, or equivalent experience; Lean/Six Sigma a plus.

What Success Looks Like (30/60/90)

30 days: Facility plan locked; permits in flight; Facility Manager hired; supply contracts secured.
60 days: Line commissioned; eDHR and QMS live; daily tier boards in place; first S&OP cycle complete.
90 days: Hitting steady throughput; OTIF/RFT dashboards trending to targets; replication playbook drafted.
