Job Summary
Job Title: Teacher / with Coaching Duties
Reports to: Principal or Principal's designee
FLSA status: Exempt
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited educational institution.
- Certified by the State of Alabama in the appropriate area.
- Must meet highly qualified status as determined by the Alabama State Department of Education.
- Must meet background clearance requirements as specified by Alabama statutes and State Board of Education regulations.
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
- Establish objectives and plan learning experiences based on individual and class needs.
- Implement activities using various techniques that utilize instructional time to meet objectives.
- Establish and maintain standards of student behavior to achieve an atmosphere conducive to learning.
- Exhibit positive human relations skills.
- Evaluate the educational program and/or student progress.
- Communicate with parents/guardians, colleagues, and community groups.
- Demonstrate proficiency in written and oral communication. Maintain and submit required records and reports.
- Adhere to school system rules, administrative procedures, local board policy, and federal, state, and local rules and regulations.
- Plan and accomplish personal professional growth and demonstrate professional ethics and leadership.
- All teachers will model the student dress code by example.
- Grades/Attendance/ Lesson plans updated in a timely manner.
- Able to responsibly coach student athletes in game strategies and techniques to prepare them for athletic competition while simultaneously motivating them to develop an appreciation for the sport.
- Able to work closely with student athletes to develop positive character both on and off the field.
- Able to assist/collaborate with teachers, counselors, and other school personnel regarding the attendance, academics, and behavior of student athletes before, during, and after athletic activity seasons.
- Any and other essential functions assigned by the Principal or his/her designee.
Term of Employment: Nine (9) months; 187 days
Salary: To be in accordance with the cureent Marengo County Schools salary schedule.
Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions pf the Board's policy of Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
