Job Summary:
The General Physician is responsible for providing comprehensive medical care to patients, diagnosing and treating a wide range of illnesses and medical conditions, and coordinating with specialists when needed. The physician works in both inpatient and outpatient settings, ensuring high-quality, evidence-based care is delivered in accordance with hospital policies and clinical guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Patient Diagnosis & Treatment
- Perform physical examinations, review patient histories, and assess symptoms.
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests (e.g., blood tests, X-rays, ECGs).
- Diagnose common acute and chronic illnesses (e.g., infections, hypertension, diabetes).
- Prescribe medications and develop treatment plans.
2. Inpatient & Outpatient Care
- Manage admitted patients in general wards and provide medical care throughout hospitalization.
- Conduct regular ward rounds, update progress notes, and adjust treatment plans accordingly.
- Provide outpatient consultations for walk-in or referred patients in the hospital’s OPD.
3. Emergency Care
- Respond to medical emergencies, stabilize patients, and refer to specialists when needed.
- Participate in on-call rotations and handle urgent cases in the emergency department as required.
4. Coordination & Referrals
- Collaborate with specialists, surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals for integrated patient care.
- Refer patients to appropriate departments for specialized treatments or further investigations.
5. Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in medical files or electronic health systems.
- Ensure documentation meets legal, ethical, and regulatory standards.
- Follow hospital protocols, infection control practices, and clinical guidelines.
Qualifications:
- MBBS.MD from a recognized institution.
- Valid medical license/registration with relevant medical council.
- Minimum 2–3 years of clinical experience in a hospital setting.
