General Practitioner (GP) – Job Description Role Summary

A General Practitioner (GP) is responsible for providing comprehensive primary healthcare services to patients of all ages, including diagnosis, treatment, and preventive care, in compliance with Dubai Health Authority (DHA) regulations.

Key Responsibilities1. Patient Care & Clinical Duties

• Examine patients and take detailed medical histories
• Diagnose and treat acute and chronic illnesses
• Prescribe medications and treatment plans
• Manage common conditions such as infections, diabetes, and hypertension

2. Preventive Healthcare

• Conduct routine check-ups and screenings
• Administer vaccinations and immunizations
• Educate patients on lifestyle, diet, and disease prevention

3. Diagnostic & Treatment Management

• Order and interpret lab tests and imaging
• Develop and monitor treatment plans
• Ensure proper follow-up and continuity of care

4. Referral & Coordination

• Refer patients to specialists when necessary
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams

5. Documentation & Compliance

• Maintain accurate electronic medical records (EMR)
• Ensure compliance with DHA guidelines and legal requirements
• Participate in audits and quality improvement initiatives

6. Patient Communication & Counseling

• Clearly explain diagnoses and treatment plans
• Provide medical advice and counseling
• Build strong patient relationships

Qualifications & Requirements

• MBBS or equivalent recognized medical degree
• Valid DHA License or DHA Eligibility Letter (mandatory)
• Minimum 2 years of clinical experience (mandatory)
• Hindi-speaking is mandatory
• Strong clinical, diagnostic, and communication skills

Work Environment

• Clinic or hospital-based practice
• 8–9 working hours per day
• Multicultural patient base
