Frontier-Kemper, a Tutor Perini Company, is seeking a General Superintendent to join our Kensico-Eastview Connection Tunnel Project in White Plains, New York.

Frontier-Kemper Constructors is the general contractor for the Kensico-Eastview Connection Tunnel Project. The scope of the approximately $1.1 billion contract entails the construction of a new deep rock tunnel between the Kensico Reservoir and the Catskill/Delaware Ultraviolet (CDUV) Light Disinfection Facility, both in Westchester County, New York. The new tunnel will provide an additional means of conveying water between the Kensico Reservoir and the CDUV Facility, enhancing operational resiliency and redundancy for New York City’s water supply system.

DESCRIPTION:

As a General Superintendent at Frontier-Kemper, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Lead tunnelling operations to ensure safe, on-time, on-budget, and high-quality project execution.

  • Oversee underground and related surface activities, including excavation, ground support, lining, mucking, ventilation, dewatering, and shaft or portal work.

  • Plan and supervise daily field operations, crew sequencing, subcontractors, equipment use, and production.

  • Ensure compliance with contract requirements, safety standards, environmental requirements, and project procedures.

  • Provide technical field leadership through interpretation of drawings, specifications, geotechnical conditions, and tunnelling methods.

  • Partner with project management on schedules, logistics, work plans, and construction strategies.

  • Coordinate with owners, engineers, inspectors, and project stakeholders on progress and field operations.

  • Resolve field issues involving sequencing, productivity, equipment, labor, subcontractors, and constructability.

  • Mentor field staff and promote a strong culture of safety, accountability, and teamwork.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 20+ years of heavy civil and tunnelling construction experience

  • Proven experience as a Superintendent on large underground/tunnel projects

  • Strong knowledge of tunnelling methods such as TBM, drill-and-blast, SEM/NATM, shaft work, or conventional mining

  • Solid understanding of U.S. construction methods, safety standards, and contract requirements

  • Experience managing craft labor, subcontractors, and field operations

  • Experience with government clients preferred

  • Proficiency in MS Office, Procore, Bluebeam, HCSS, or similar software (preferred)

  • OSHA and First Aid/CPR certifications

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
