Generator Technician

Generator technician Job Description

A generator technician is responsible for monitoring, maintaining, Identifying and repairing generators and other power generation equipment. They may work in various industries, including commercial and noncommercial, and must have knowledge of electrical systems and equipment. The technician must also adhere to safety protocols and maintain accurate records of their work.

Responsibilities.

•

Perform regular maintenance and repair work on generators.

•

Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues with generators.

•

Conduct inspections and testing of generators to ensure they are functioning properly.

•

Keep accurate records of all maintenance and repair work performed on generators.

•

Collaborate with other technicians and departments to ensure efficient and effective use of generators.

•

Stay up to date with advancements in generator technology and recommend upgrades or modifications as needed.

•

Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and guidelines while working on generators.

•

Provide training and guidance to junior technicians and apprentices as needed.

Requirements.

•

Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.

•

Should have at least 2 years of experience in generator maintenance and repair.

•

Must be able to troubleshoot and diagnose electrical and mechanical issues with generators.

•

Should have knowledge of diesel and gas engines, fuel systems, and alternators.

•

Must be able to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams.

•

Should have good communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with customers and team members.

•

Familiarity with NFPA 110, OSHA, and EPA regulations is a plus.

•

Must be able to work independently and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.

•

Experience with ATS installations, Monitoring and troubleshooting.

•

Basic knowledge of PLCs and control systems.
