The Geotechnical Engineer is responsible for supervising, coordinating, and executing piling and foundation works in line with project specifications, safety standards, and company requirements. The role involves technical planning, on-site supervision, quality control, and ensuring the timely completion of piling activities for dewatering, shoring, and foundation projects.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning & Execution
- Prepare and review method statements, construction drawings, and technical documents related to piling works.
- Plan and monitor daily piling operations, ensuring compliance with project schedules.
- Coordinate with survey teams for setting out pile locations and levels.
- Site Supervision & Quality Control
- Supervise and monitor piling rigs, cranes, and equipment during operations.
- Ensure piles are constructed as per design, specifications, and quality standards.
- Conduct integrity testing, load testing, and ensure proper documentation.
- Identify and resolve any technical or site-related issues.
- Coordination & Communication
- Liaise with consultants, contractors, and site engineers to resolve technical matters.
- Coordinate with procurement and logistics teams for timely delivery of materials and equipment.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports for management.
- Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)
- Ensure adherence to health and safety policies during piling operations.
- Implement risk assessments and method statements (RAMS) for piling activities.
- Conduct toolbox talks and ensure safe working practices on site.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
- Minimum 4–5 years experience in piling, shoring, and foundation engineering (experience in dewatering is an advantage).
- Strong knowledge of soil mechanics, structural engineering, and foundation design.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Office, and engineering software.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple site activities.
