Position Type: Part-time, 169 days per year
Location: District-wide

Salary: Pay for this position is determined by the 169-day Teacher Salary Schedule and is based on education and experience. Salary Range $22,593-$38,860

Position Overview: We are seeking an innovative educator to lead our Middle School Gifted and Talented program. This individual will be responsible for identifying gifted learners, managing Advanced Learning Plans (ALPs), and providing high-rigor instruction that addresses both the academic and social-emotional needs of middle school students. The successful candidate will act as a specialist who collaborates with general education staff to ensure that "giftedness" is recognized and nurtured across all content areas.

QUALIFICATIONS and SKILLS:

  • Education/Licensure:
    • Bachelor’s Degree or higher (master’s degree in gifted education preferred)
    • Valid Colorado Teaching License with a Gifted Education Core Endorsement (Ages 4-21) or ability to apply.
    • Passing score on PRAXIS #5358 (Gifted Education).
    • Gifted Education Specialist endorsement preferred
  • Experience: Previous classroom experience at the middle school level is highly desirable, with a focus on differentiating for varied levels of performance.
  • Curriculum Design: Ability to design curriculum based on student interests and strengths with an emphasis on rigor, relevance, critical thinking, creativity, and leadership.
  • Social-Emotional Expertise: Strong understanding of the affective needs of gifted learners, including twice-exceptional (2e) students and underrepresented populations.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Proven ability to establish collaborative relationships with colleagues and maintain ongoing, professional communication with parents and the community.
  • Technical Proficiency: Ability to manage Standard-Aligned ALPs and data using District systems (e.g., Infinite Campus, Google Workspace).

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

GATE Program Leadership & Instruction

  • Instructional Excellence: Deliver high-rigor instruction using research-based models to support the academic and affective needs of high-ability learners.
  • ALP Management: Facilitate and manage Advanced Learning Plan (ALP) conferences, maintain accurate case files, and ensure compliance with all state-required paperwork.
  • Identification & Assessment: Lead committee work to review multi-body evidence and data to make eligibility determinations for referred students.
  • Enrichment Coordination: Elicit student participation in and lead enrichment activities.
  • Teacher Support: Facilitate gifted education workshops and collaborate with general education teachers to support effective differentiation in the regular classroom.
  • Literacy & Assessment: Demonstrate strong knowledge of literacy development, instructional programs, and data-driven assessment practices.

Professionalism & Collaboration

  • Collaborative Culture: Work cooperatively with staff, students, and the public to establish a positive school culture and maintain strong professional relationships.
  • Conflict Resolution: Demonstrate professional maturity and integrity when resolving conflicts with stakeholders.
  • Independence & Ethics: Model a high work ethic and the ability to work with minimal supervision while upholding the District’s Mission and Belief Statements.
  • Communication: Effectively read, write, and speak to comply with directions, establish priorities, and communicate clearly with the school community.

Operations, Technology & Data Security

  • Technical Proficiency: Utilize district technology and systems (e.g., Google Workspace, Infinite Campus) to communicate and function effectively as a 21st-century employee.
  • Data Safeguards: Implement appropriate physical and technical safeguards to protect the confidentiality and integrity of district data.
  • Security Practices: Maintain secure password/account practices and immediately report any suspected data breaches to appropriate personnel.
  • Policy Compliance: Follow all board policies for acceptable use of technology and maintain accurate, organized records.
  • Physical Requirements: Must pass a pre-employment physical and perform all other duties as assigned.

RESPONSIBILITIES:


Teachers are held to high expectations for their performance to ensure the success of the individual and the District in serving students and the community. Teachers are held to the District’s Licensed Personnel Performance Evaluation System that consists of the State’s Quality Standards, elements, and performance indicators, which point to fulfillment of the teaching responsibility. A teacher’s demonstrated effectiveness is based on the following standards:

Quality Standard I: Teachers demonstrate mastery of and pedagogical expertise in the content they teach.
Quality Standard II: Teachers establish a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment for a diverse population of students.
Quality Standard III: Teachers plan and deliver effective instruction and create an environment that facilitates learning for their students.
Quality Standard IV: Teachers demonstrate professionalism through ethical conduct, reflection, and leadership.
