Designation: GIS Specialist (ISP Industry)

Position Overview: The Optical Fiber Department GIS (Geographic Information System) Person is responsible for managing, analyzing, and maintaining geographic data related to optical fiber network infrastructure. This role involves utilizing GIS software and tools to create maps, perform spatial analysis, and generate reports that support the planning, design, and management of optical fiber projects. The GIS Person collaborates with project managers, engineers, and field technicians to ensure accurate and up-to-date spatial data is available for decision-making and project implementation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create, update, and maintain GIS maps for fiber optic, wireless, and backbone networks
  • Manage spatial data related to ODF, ODC, FDT, manholes, poles, ducts, splice points, and towers
  • Support network planning, expansion, and optimization using GIS analysis
  • Ensure accuracy and integrity of GIS data for live and planned network assets
  • Integrate survey data, as-built drawings, and field updates into GIS systems
  • Coordinate with NOC, Network Planning, Field Operations, and Sales teams
  • Prepare coverage maps, feasibility reports, and capacity planning maps
  • Assist in FTTH, FTTx, and last-mile network design
  • Perform route analysis and site feasibility studies
  • Maintain documentation, metadata, and version control of GIS data

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Geography, Geomatics, Telecom Engineering, or Diploma
  • Minimum 1–3 years of experience in GIS within the ISP / Telecom sector
  • Strong understanding of telecom network architecture
  • Hands-on experience in spatial data analysis and mapping

By effectively managing GIS data and meeting key performance indicators, the Optical Fiber Department GIS Person plays a critical role in supporting the planning, design, and management of optical fiber network infrastructure projects.
