Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Glass Foreman with a proven track record in glass installation and supervision. The Glass Foreman will be responsible for leading a team of glaziers and installers, coordinating daily work activities, and ensuring that all glass installation projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. This role requires hands-on technical expertise, strong leadership skills, and the ability to manage projects from planning to completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and lead a team of glass installers and glaziers on residential, commercial, and industrial projects.
- Plan daily work schedules, allocate manpower, and coordinate material and equipment needs.
- Review project drawings, specifications, and blueprints to ensure accurate installations.
- Oversee cutting, fitting, installation, and finishing of glass, mirrors, windows, doors, and other glazing systems.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, building codes, and quality standards.
- Provide technical guidance, training, and mentorship to junior staff.
- Inspect completed work for accuracy, alignment, and overall finish.
- Communicate with project managers, contractors, and clients to address project requirements and resolve issues.
- Maintain accurate records of labor, materials, and project progress.
- Monitor inventory of tools and materials, and coordinate timely procurement.
Qualifications
- Minimum 10 years of proven experience in glass installation or glazing, with at least 3–5 years in a supervisory/foreman role.
- In-depth knowledge of glass types, glazing systems, sealants, hardware, and installation methods.
- Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and specifications.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Ability to work in various environments, including at heights and outdoors.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with clients and contractors.
Preferred Skills (Optional)
- Experience with specialized glass systems such as curtain walls, structural glazing, or high-performance architectural glass.
- Familiarity with modern installation equipment and safety systems.
- Certification in construction safety or glazing trade (where applicable).
Work Environment
- Work performed on construction sites, residential, and commercial buildings.
- May involve working at heights, in varying weather conditions, and with heavy materials.
- Leadership role requires balancing hands-on installation with supervision and coordination.
