Objective

The Communications Specialist will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing iMMAP Inc.'s global communication activities - including, ensuring consistent and effective communication, promoting the organization's mission, and enhancing its global visibility.

Key Responsibilities

The Communications Specialist will report directly to the Director, Business Development, Impact and Partnerships at iMMAP Inc. and will be responsible for increasing iMMAP Inc.'s internal and external communications, visibility and raise awareness of the organization's mission statement, achievements and accomplishments. The Communications Specialist will be responsible for developing, maintaining and improving iMMAP Inc.'s communications activities in regards to the work that is done by iMMAP Inc.'s Country / Regional Offices and HQ/Global Teams.

  • Strategic Communication: Develop and implement a comprehensive communication strategy that aligns with iMMAP Inc.'s mission and objectives. Ensure the strategy encompasses both internal and external communication efforts.
  • Content Development: Oversee the creation of high-quality, engaging content for various channels, including social media, websites, newsletters, and reports.
  • Media Relations: Manage media relations, including press releases, media engagement, and fostering relationships with journalists to enhance the organization's visibility.
  • Digital and Social Media: Maintain and enhance the organization's online presence through social media channels and the website. Ensure a consistent and compelling digital brand image.
  • Publications: Oversee the production of publications, reports, and promotional materials, ensuring they are professionally designed and reflect the organization's messaging and branding.
  • Events and Campaigns: Plan, coordinate, and execute communication campaigns, events, and webinars to promote iMMAP Inc.'s work and raise awareness.
  • Brand Management: Protect and enhance the iMMAP Inc. brand by ensuring all communication materials and messages adhere to branding guidelines.
Overview of Duties

The Communications Specialist assumes the primary responsibility for planning, developing and implementing communications activities to promote iMMAP Inc.s’ visibility and programmes.

  • Technical production and Coordination:
  • S/he will develop and implement iMMAP Inc. Global Communications plans and strategies for internal and external stakeholders and tailored audiences.
  • S/he will ensure quality control of all communication products before they are published
  • S/he will be coordinating and supporting country communication teams to ensure the delivery of coordinated, impactful messages and news packages to key audiences taking into account global and operational strategies and policies.
  • S/he will seek innovative technology solutions to grow iMMAP Inc.'s social media footprint.
  • Internal Communications:
  • S/he will be responsible for drafting internal policies and procedures related to communications.
  • S/he shall safeguard iMMAP Inc. branding style and supervise its implementation in all country offices.
  • External communications:
  • S/he will maintain iMMAP Inc.'s external communications platforms updated: newsletters, website, social-media, one-pagers, project snapshots with information on projects and capabilities statements, including past performance.
  • S/he will lead the development of yearly iMMAP Inc. annual reports.
  • S/he will act as external global focal point for engaging with media stakeholders and will act as a moderator/facilitator for partnerships events, if and when required.
Qualifications and requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in communications, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English (knowledge of other languages is a plus).
  • Strong understanding of social media, digital marketing, and emerging communication trends.
  • Experience in a global or international organization, preferably in the humanitarian or development sector.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and team management skills.
  • Knowledge and/or prior working experience with iMMAP is a plus.
