The Global Product Manager – Core leads apg’s worldwide core product strategy (heavy, standard and light duty cash drawers and hardware peripherals), development, and lifecycle management across retail, hospitality, and emerging markets. This role identifies global market needs, directs the creation of innovative solutions, and ensures successful commercialization across all apg regions. This position owns the long-term vision, roadmap, and financial performance of their product portfolio. This includes guiding cross-functional teams, aligning regional stakeholders, and ensuring products meet global customer requirements while achieving growth, margin, and competitive objectives.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
STRATEGIC & GLOBAL PRODUCT LEADERSHIP
- Own global success, profitability, and lifecycle planning for Core product lines.
- Lead global product strategy development, including long-term roadmaps and investment planning.
- Develop global business cases including financial models (ROI, margin analysis, NPV).
- Define global product value propositions, messaging, requirements, and vision.
PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT & LIFECYCLE MANAGEMENT
- Drive cross-functional teams through apg’s product development process, levering strong project management processes
- Manage product development project through stage gates, strong communication and optimal resource management.
- Translate market needs into engineering requirements for global scalability.
- Manage global product performance metrics such as cost, quality, and lead time.
- Create, maintain, and drive execution of cost-down roadmaps.
- Manage product lifecycle, proactively providing sales teams with information on end of life horizons and supporting optimal working capital management.
MARKET & COMPETITIVE INTELLIGENCE
- Conduct global market research and competitive benchmarking.
- Identify emerging trends in retail, hospitality, and adjacent verticals.
- Recommend product extensions, modifications, and complementary solutions.
- Identify white space opportunities and market position enhancements; make proposals with financial acumen to develop into these opportunities.
COMMERCIAL & GO-TO-MARKET EXECUTION
- Collaborate with global marketing to develop product collateral, launch plans, and content.
- Support global sales teams with training, materials, and international customer engagements.
- Represent apg at trade shows and industry events worldwide.
- Own technical and product components of global RFP/RFQ/RFI submissions.
CROSS-FUNCTIONAL INFLUENCE & STAKEHOLDER MANAGEMENT
- Align product strategy Across all functions.
- Build strong customer relationships, in partnership with sales, with global strategic accounts.
- Partner with supply chain and operations to optimize global manufacturing strategy.
- Manage global portfolio simplification and standardization initiatives.
FINANCIAL OWNERSHIP
- Develop and execute worldwide pricing strategies, utilizing global market knowledge and benchmarking.
- Monitor and deliver revenue, cost, and EBITDA targets.
- Contribute to annual strategic planning and budget cycles.

REQUIREMENTS

Four-year degree from a university or college and a minimum of 5 years’ experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience. Advanced degree, preferred.
- 7+ years of product management experience.
- Some travel to specific customer, supplier and industry events on both a domestic and international basis.
- Strong understanding of market, technology, and customer-driven innovation.
