General Manager - Sales / Director Sales
Job Summary:
The General Manager - Sales is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing the sales department, driving revenue growth, and leading a team to achieve organizational sales targets. This position involves strategic planning, team management, and collaboration with other departments to ensure alignment with company goals. Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement sales strategies, including market expansion, pricing models, and product positioning to maximize revenue and market share.
- Team Management: Hire, train, mentor, and evaluate sales team members; foster a high-performance culture and resolve performance issues.
- Revenue Generation: Set and monitor sales targets, analyze performance metrics (e.g., KPIs like conversion rates, customer acquisition costs), and adjust tactics to meet or exceed quotas.
- Customer Relationship Management: Build and maintain relationships with key clients, partners, and stakeholders; oversee customer service initiatives to enhance satisfaction and retention.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with marketing, product development, and operations teams to align sales efforts with broader business objectives.
- Budget and Forecasting: Manage the sales department budget, forecast sales trends, and report on financial outcomes to executive leadership.
- Compliance and Ethics: Ensure all sales activities adhere to legal, ethical, and company standards; implement best practices for data privacy and fair competition.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field; MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred.
- Experience: 7+ years in sales management, with at least 3 years in a leadership role (e.g., Sales Director or similar); experience in B2B or B2C sales depending on industry.
- Skills:
- Proven track record of exceeding sales targets and leading teams to success.
- Strong analytical skills for data-driven decision-making (proficiency in CRM tools like Salesforce, HubSpot).
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal abilities.
- Leadership qualities including coaching, conflict resolution, and motivational techniques.
- Knowledge of industry trends, competitive analysis, and sales methodologies (e.g., consultative selling).
