Job Overview
We are seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Gold and Silver Buyer to join our procurement team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing precious metals, ensuring optimal inventory levels, and maintaining strong supplier relationships. This role requires a solid understanding of supply chain management, inventory control, and procurement processes, with proficiency in various ERP systems. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting our company's strategic sourcing objectives and maintaining high standards of quality and cost efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Source and evaluate suppliers for gold and silver commodities, ensuring compliance with quality standards and company policies
- Negotiate purchase terms, pricing, and contracts to secure favorable agreements
- Manage procurement activities using ERP systems such as SAP, SAP ERP, JD Edwards, Oracle EBS, AS400, or similar platforms
- Coordinate with logistics and inventory management teams to ensure timely delivery and optimal stock levels
- Monitor market trends for precious metals to inform purchasing decisions and pricing strategies
- Maintain accurate records of purchase orders, supplier contracts, and inventory movements
- Collaborate with production planning, merchandising, and supply chain teams to align procurement activities with operational needs
- Conduct supplier evaluations and develop sourcing strategies to improve cost savings and supply reliability
- Support e-commerce initiatives related to precious metals sales or procurement channels
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements related to the purchase of precious metals
Experience
- Proven experience in procurement or purchasing within the precious metals or commodities industry preferred
- Strong knowledge of ERP systems such as SAP, SAP ERP, JD Edwards, Oracle EBS, AS400, or similar platforms used for materials management and procurement processes
- Familiarity with supply chain management principles including inventory management, logistics, sourcing, pricing strategies, and production planning
- Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to establish mutually beneficial supplier relationships
- Experience in contract management and sourcing strategies is highly desirable
- Knowledge of e-commerce platforms related to metals trading or retail is a plus
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail in inventory control and procurement data analysis
