Job Overview
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Golf Course Mechanic to join our team on a part-time basis. In this role, you will be responsible for on-site maintenance, repairs, and servicing of our golf course equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety. Your expertise will help keep our course running smoothly, providing an exceptional experience for our members and guests. This position is ideal for someone with hands-on mechanical experience who enjoys working in an outdoor environment.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform routine inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on golf course machinery, including Toro rough mower machines, Toro fairway mowers, Ford tractors, greens rollers, aerators, and utility vehicles.
- Service and troubleshoot Toro fairway mowers, including blade adjustments, height changes, and other turf-specific settings.
- Maintain tractors, ensuring optimal performance for course upkeep tasks.
- Repair and service a range of electric carts from Club Car and E-Z-GO brands.
- Handle maintenance on various gas-powered motors used in our equipment fleet.
- Use specialized tools such as ohmmeters to troubleshoot electrical systems and ensure proper functioning of equipment.
- Conduct preventive maintenance checks to minimize equipment downtime, extend lifespan, and respond to breakdowns promptly.
- Assist in the calibration and adjustment of equipment to meet operational standards.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and repairs performed.
- Assist with inventory management of parts and tools as needed.
- Ensure all safety protocols are followed during maintenance procedures.
- Collaborate with staff to prioritize repairs and schedule maintenance tasks efficiently.
Experience and Qualifications
- Proven experience in mechanical repair and maintenance, preferably in a golf course or similar outdoor environment.
- Familiarity with Toro mowers, John Deere tractors, Club Car/E-Z-GO electric carts, and gas-powered motors is highly desirable.
- Golf course experience is ideal, including knowledge of adjusting blade heights, mower settings, and other turf-specific maintenance.
- Strong knowledge of small engine repair, hydraulic systems, electrical diagnostics, and troubleshooting techniques using tools like ohmmeters.
- Basic knowledge of electrical systems, hydraulics, and small engine repairs.
- Strong mechanical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining attention to detail.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to equipment care.
- Valid driver's license and ability to operate equipment safely.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in mechanics or related field is a plus.
