JOB SUMMARY:
The Golf Retail Merchandise Buyer is responsible for selecting, purchasing, receiving, and maintaining retail merchandise for golf operations. This role partners closely with Golf Operations and Pro Shop staff to ensure optimal inventory levels, strong product assortments, and a positive guest shopping experience while supporting financial performance through effective forecasting and inventory control.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Previous experience in retail buying, merchandising, or inventory management required. Strong understanding of retail math, inventory turns, margins, and forecasting. Experience using point-of-sale systems and inventory software. Moderate to advanced computer proficiency (including retail forecasting tools). Knowledge of cash register operations. Customer-service focused with strong communication skills. Ability to work independently while collaborating with team members and vendors.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:- Review, evaluate, and select upcoming merchandise lines and products based on industry trends, guest demand, seasonal needs, and sales performance.
- Process received merchandise and invoices accurately and in a timely manner.
- Forecast product performance and manage buying decisions to maximize sell-through and minimize overstocks.
- Process received items and invoices while providing inventory control in a proper and timely manner.
- Ensure precise inventory control and documentation within the designated inventory management system (Coupa).
- Tag, steam, and prepare merchandise for display and sale on the golf shop floor.
- Conduct monthly physical inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies.
- Maintain appropriate stock levels to meet the merchandising needs of the golf shop and gift shop.
- Coordinate with Pro Shop staff regarding inventory needs, replenishment, and merchandising support.
- Travel to attend merchandise shows, vendor meetings, and buying events as required.
- Provide operational support by assisting Pro Shop Attendants and covering shifts as needed.
- Other job-related duties as assigned and instructed by management.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The work requires some physical exertion such as long periods of standing, walking on uneven surfaces, and the lifting of moderately heavy objects. The work may require above average strength, agility or dexterity.
WORK CONDITIONS:
The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts requiring normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, meeting and training rooms, e.g. use of safe work practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, observance of fire regulations, etc. The work area is adequately lit, heated and ventilated. This is a 24 hour/7 day a week work environment with varying shifts including weekends and holidays.
