General Description:
The Grades Class Teacher prepares for and delivers a holistic, developmentally designed curriculum rooted in Waldorf pedagogy. The Grades Class Teacher carries primary responsibility for the academic, social, and emotional well-being of the students and serves as the central figure in cultivating a healthy and cohesive classroom community.
Key Responsibilities:
Class Leadership and Instruction
- Teach the daily Main Lesson blocks and integrate Waldorf curriculum across academic disciplines.
- Plan and deliver engaging, developmentally designed lessons aligned with Waldorf standards and Cedarwood’s scope and sequence.
- Incorporate artistic, movement-based, and experiential methods into daily learning.
Classroom Management and Student Support
- Foster a warm, inclusive, and structured classroom environment that supports student growth and well-being.
- Observe and respond to the individual needs of students, offering differentiated instruction and support as needed.
- Collaborate with subject teachers to ensure consistency and integration of curriculum.
Parent Communication and Community Building
- Maintain regular and professional communication with parents, including class meetings, progress reports, and conferences.
- Cultivate meaningful relationships with families to support the child’s development and the school community.
Collegial Collaboration and Professional Growth
- Participate in weekly faculty meetings, mentoring, peer observation, in-service training, and professional development.
- Engage in school festivals, events, and community-building activities as a representative of the class and faculty.
- Contribute to a collegial and mission-aligned faculty culture through teamwork and shared responsibility.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Waldorf teacher certification required
- Classroom teaching experience, ideally in Waldorf or other developmentally-designed pedagogy.
- Strong classroom management skills and a deep understanding of child development.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- A commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in the classroom and school community.
- Enthusiasm for collaborative work and a growth mindset in professional practice.
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary: TBD

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $45,000.00 - $79,000.00 per year
