Responsibilities
- Implement and promote the MBCC Safety Procedures and Programs to ensure own safety and the safety of all others in the workplace.
- Ensure the safety of all personnel through diligent monitoring of hazards, implementation of JSA system, safety policies and controls.
- Ensure that any safety incidents/accidents are reported within the agreed time frame.
- Ensure that all laboratory technicians complete the necessary mandatory site safety training in time.
- Conduct accurate daily, weekly, and monthly metallurgical and reagent accounting activities as per MBCC guidelines to Metallurgical Balance.
- Define blend threshold especially for low Cu/Zn ratio and/or materials.
- Provide guidance and supervision to Metallurgical Technicians in implementing their daily tasks.
- Interpreting and understanding design drawings and making continuous improvement recommendations.
- Participate as a member of project teams.
- Design, implement, and evaluate circuit improvements.
- Identify, diagnose, and analyze deviations and consult with the Senior Plant Metallurgist prior to implementing changes.
- Review and maintain product specification by adjusting metallurgical and process inputs.
- Assist with troubleshooting processing problems.
- Managing efficiencies in grinding, classification, flotation, dewatering, and drying processes and suggest controls to eliminate or minimize deviations from desired KPI's.
- Identify and propose plant optimization parameters.
- Conduct plant trials investigations.
- Make sure all optimal parameters are achieved as proposed by technical team.
- Doing metallurgical analysis using in-house laboratory facility or external consultancy as necessary.
- Conduct research (literature or practical) on specific topics received from the Process Superintendent / Plant Manager or Client.
- Conduct metallurgical test work on all materials type and provide predictive data on recoveries and reagents consumptions.
- Based on metallurgical test work, define and propose optimal reagents additions and feed blend.
- Propose and run feasibility studies of all uncommon, advanced test work.
- Run full metallurgical test work on upcoming feed material and incorporate the results into the block model with geologists.
- Champion the geometallurgical program.
- Participate in research and development programs.
- Make sure all metallurgical test works are performed with full respect of standard operating procedure.
- Conduct all other tasks assigned by Sr Metallurgist/Superintendent & Process Manager.
Qualification Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering in the field of Metallurgy, Chemical and Process or Equivalent.
Experience and Skills Requirements
- A minimum of 2 years experience as a graduate metallurgist
- Fluency in English
- Competency in MS-Excel, MS-Word, MS-PowerPoint, Visio etc
- Met Accounting
- Experience in SAP
