Macquarie Geotechnical is a Geotechnical Consulting / Drilling & Construction Materials Testing company working on both civil and mining infrastructure projects throughout Australia. We maintain a fleet of modern drill rigs, support equipment and tools that are at the forefront of the industry.

Macquarie Geotechnical is seeking applicants for a Graduate/Junior Geophysicist position to work on road, rail and mine infrastructure projects across Australia (focused in New South Wales, Victoria & Queensland) with the potential of international work. The position is based out of our Sydney office with travel required to onsite project work. This is a full time position.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the collection of geophysical surveys including Seismic Refraction, MASW, Electrical Resistivity, Magnetics, Ground Penetrating Radar, Electromagnetics.
• Undertake downhole geophysical logging surveys with a range of techniques.
• Assist with processing, drafting, and reporting of geophysical datasets.
• Engage with the maintenance and safe operation of geophysical equipment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor Degree of Science majoring in Geophysics or Geology.
• Numerical, analytical and observation skills.
• Ability to problem solve.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work within a team environment.
• Preferably familiar with a range of geophysical acquisition and processing software including but not limited to Rayfract, ParkSeis, Oasis Montaj (Geosoft), Res2DInv, Seis Imager 2D, ReflexW and WellCAD.
• A current driver licence.
• Valid working rights in Australia.
• Ability to pass a 'fit to work' medical & regular drug and alcohol screening.
