Granby Maker Lab Summer Camp Tech- Temp position (4 weeks) No benefits

Primary Purpose:

The Town of Granby CT, in collaboration with the Granby Public Library and the Granby Education Foundation, is seeking a Maker Lab Summer Tech to join our team for a temporary seasonal position. This role focuses on working with students in grades 4–6 or 7–9, leading engaging, hands-on makerspace activities and supporting summer camp programming. The selected candidate will gain valuable experience in a dynamic public library setting while helping foster creativity, curiosity, and a love of learning through our Summer Reading and makerspace initiatives.

Key Responsibilities include:

• Leading and supervising small groups of students in grades 4–6 or 7–9 during makerspace activities
• Planning, setup, and facilitation of hands-on programs and creative projects
• Supporting students in safely using makerspace tools, technology, and equipment
• Encouraging creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving among participants
• Managing program logistics and general tasks as needed
• Providing a welcoming, inclusive, and positive environment for all participants

Ideal Candidate should:

• Enjoy working with youth and demonstrate strong customer service skills
• Have experience working with children in grades 4–9

· Basic comfort with technology and willingness to learn makerspace tools and equipment

• Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students
• Be a team player who is willing to support and learn
• Be responsible, dependable, and organized
• Be adaptable, creative, and open to learning new skills
• Be self-motivated and capable of working both independently and collaboratively

Works under the direction of Makerspace Technician.

Minimum Qualifications:

· Must be at least 18 years old and pass a background check

· Current high school student or recent graduate (college students preferred but not required)

· Reliable transportation and consistent availability for the duration of the program
