Job Title- Grant Writer

Position Summary: The Grant Writer identifies funding opportunities, develops persuasive grant proposals, and manages the grant application process from start to finish. This role works closely with leadership and program staff to secure financial support that advances the organization's mission and strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Research local, state, federal, corporate, and foundation grant opportunities.
• Write clear, persuasive, and well-organized grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and funding applications.
• Develop and maintain a grant calendar to track deadlines and reporting requirements.
• Collaborate with leadership and program staff to gather data, budgets, and program information.
• Ensure all grant applications comply with funder guidelines and submission requirements.
• Prepare grant budgets in partnership with finance staff.
• Monitor awarded grants and complete required progress and final reports.
• Maintain accurate records of submitted proposals, grant awards, and funding outcomes.
• Build and maintain positive relationships with foundations, corporations, and government agencies.
• Stay informed about trends and best practices in grant funding and nonprofit development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Nonprofit Management, Public Administration, or a related field (preferred).
• Proven experience writing successful grant proposals.
• Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
• Strong research and organizational abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines and projects simultaneously.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and grant management software.
• Strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively
• Minimum of five to eight years
• Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain relationships with prospective funders and grant-making organizations, with access to a proven network that can be utilized to expand the organization's funding opportunities under preferred skills

Preferred Skills

• Experience working with nonprofit organizations, Youth Development, 21st Century Community Center Grants, NYC COMPASS or community development programs.
• Knowledge of federal, state, and private foundation funding opportunities.
• Budget development and financial reporting experience.

Compensation

$70,000–$90,000 per year, annually, commensurate with experience, plus a comprehensive benefits package.

Independent Contractor Option: Qualified grant writing consultants and firms are encouraged to apply. Please include your fee schedule or proposed compensation structure on a per-grant basis, including any retainer or success-based fee arrangements, if applicable. Pay: $70,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
