About Safer Path: Established in 1992, Safer Path Family Violence Shelter is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization serving survivors of domestic and sexual violence. Position Summary: The Grants Coordinator plays a key mid‑management role within the Finance & Administration Department and serves as the organization’s primary lead for grant development, reporting, and compliance. This position ensures Safer Path has the grant funding and systems needed to sustain and grow survivor‑centered programs.
Manages the full grant lifecycle in close coordination with the Finance & Administration Manager, including budget support, cost allocation training, and ongoing grant budget monitoring. This role also provides internal guidance to program and support teams to help ensure grants are implemented on time, on budget, and in alignment with funder requirements. This role emphasizes grant management, reporting, and compliance as much as proposal writing and is not limited to front‑end grant development.
This role requires sustained focus on detailed processes, documentation, tracking systems, and compliance requirements. Success depends on consistency, accuracy, and follow‑through over time. The Grants Coordinator is trained on cost allocation and works under the guidance of the Finance & Administration Manager on grant budgets and financial reporting.
What You’ll Do (Core Responsibilities):
Grant Development & Writing
· Research and identify public and private grant opportunities aligned with organizational priorities.
· Serve as the primary writer for foundation, corporate, and select government grant proposals.
· Collaborate with program and finance staff to develop clear project narratives, budgets, and outcomes.
· Maintain a grant calendar to track submission and decision deadlines.
· Meet regularly with the Executive Director to translate organizational strategy, program ideas, and emerging priorities into competitive grant proposals.
Grants Management, Reporting & Compliance
· Oversee post‑award grant management, including reporting, renewals, and compliance monitoring.
· Prepare accurate, timely narrative and financial reports in coordination with Finance and Programs.
· Maintain organized digital and physical grant files with all required documentation.
· Support compliance with Uniform Grant Guidance and other funder requirements.
· Communicate award details and reporting expectations to relevant staff.
· This role requires sustained attention to detailed processes, documentation, and compliance across multiple overlapping grants and reporting cycles.
Data Management, Evaluation & Outcomes
· Retrieve, analyze, and verify program data to support grant reporting and outcome measurement.
· Work with internal teams to improve data accuracy and reporting processes.
· Prepare outcome summaries and metrics that reflect survivor‑centered impact.
· Support evaluation of grant‑funded programs to inform future funding strategies.
Departmental Leadership & Collaboration
· Serve as a thought partner to the Finance & Administration Manager on grants strategy and systems.
· Participate in cross‑departmental planning related to funding, compliance, and reporting.
· Communicate workload priorities, risks, and timelines clearly and proactively.
· Represent Safer Path professionally with funders and external partners.

Knowledge, Skills & Attributes
· Demonstrated knowledge of the full grant lifecycle, including research, proposal development, budgeting, award management, reporting, and closeout across government and private funders.
· Strong grant writing, editing, and analytical skills, with the ability to translate program data and financial information into clear, accurate, and compliant narratives and reports.
· Ability to manage multiple grants simultaneously, maintain organized systems, and consistently meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
· Working knowledge of nonprofit financial practices, grant compliance requirements (including Uniform Grant Guidance), and collaboration with finance and program teams.
· Proven ability to communicate clearly, respectfully, and effectively with internal stakeholders, funders, and external partners.
· Strong attention to detail paired with sound judgment and the ability to identify risks, troubleshoot issues, and propose practical solutions.
· Comfortable working independently, managing their own time, and developing personal systems and workflows to ensure deadlines and compliance requirements are consistently met.
