Overview
Hue House, a New York-based restaurant and cultural group celebrating Asian diaspora through food, design, wellness, and cultural programming, is seeking a paid Graphic Design Intern to join our creative team.
This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about restaurant branding, visual storytelling, food culture, and social media content. You will support the design needs of Hue House and its current brands, working across menus, posters, social content, event materials, photography, and other brand assets. The intern will collaborate closely with our team to maintain a strong and consistent visual identity while helping bring fresh creative ideas to life.
Chinese speaking skills are required, as the role involves bilingual communication and content needs. Experience with AI design tools, image generation, or automation tools such as Claude Code is a strong plus.
Responsibilities
- Design visual materials for Hue House and its restaurant brands, including menus, posters, flyers, signage, social media graphics, event promotions, and digital advertisements.
- Support brand identity work across current and future concepts, ensuring consistency in typography, color, layout, and visual tone.
- Create engaging social media content for platforms such as Instagram, Xiaohongshu/RED, TikTok, and other digital channels.
- Assist with food, beverage, interior, and lifestyle photography for marketing, menu, and social content.
- Retouch and edit photos for use across digital and print platforms.
- Collaborate with the marketing and operations teams to produce campaign materials, event assets, and seasonal promotions.
- Help organize brand files, design templates, photography assets, and content libraries.
- Participate in brainstorming sessions for new campaigns, product launches, restaurant promotions, and cultural events.
- Explore creative workflows using AI tools for image generation, content adaptation, design automation, or production efficiency when appropriate.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a program in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Fine Arts, Marketing, Multimedia, or a related field.
- Strong graphic design skills with a good eye for layout, typography, color, branding, and visual storytelling.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, especially Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. Premiere Pro, After Effects, Lightroom, or Canva experience is a plus.
- Ability to create both print and digital materials, including menus, posters, social media graphics, and promotional assets.
- Basic photography skills, especially food/product photography, with an understanding of lighting, composition, and editing.
- Chinese speaking skills required; bilingual Chinese/English writing ability is a plus.
- Interest in food, hospitality, Asian culture, lifestyle branding, and social media trends.
- Familiarity with AI tools such as Midjourney, ChatGPT, Adobe Firefly, Runway, or automation tools such as Claude Code is a strong plus.
- Detail-oriented, organized, proactive, and able to manage multiple design tasks in a fast-paced restaurant environment.
- Strong communication skills and willingness to collaborate with both creative and operations teams.

Pay: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour
