Job Description

JP Custom Leatherworks is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented individual with a creative eye and strong attention to detail. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing digital designs and bringing them to life through our laser engraving process on custom leather gear.

This position blends graphic design and hands-on production work. You will spend part of your day working with design files (text layouts, logos, custom artwork) and part of your day operating laser equipment to engrave those designs onto our products.

Experience in graphic design, digital artwork, or similar creative software is required for this position. Laser operation experience is preferred, but not required as training will be provided.

Responsibilities

• Review order details and customer notes before beginning each job
• Prepare and adjust digital design files (text, logos, layouts) for engraving
• Ensure artwork is properly formatted (sizing, spacing, alignment, vector files, etc.)
• Operate and monitor laser engraving equipment (training provided)
• Maintain accuracy and consistency across all custom orders
• Perform quality checks to ensure clean, precise engravings
• Stay organized and manage multiple orders efficiently
• Learn and develop new skills as you grow within the role
• Keep your work area clean and organized at the end of each day

Qualifications

• Experience with graphic design software (Adobe Illustrator, CorelDRAW, Photoshop, or similar) is required
• Familiarity with vector files and digital artwork
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions precisely
• Creative mindset with an eye for layout, spacing, and design balance
• Comfortable working both on a computer and with hands-on equipment
• Good time management and communication skills
• Dependable, patient, and able to stay focused on detail-oriented tasks
