Job Summary: The Prepress Graphic Designer prepares, adjusts, and troubleshoots digital artwork for print production, ensuring files meet technical specs (bleeds, color, resolution, trapping). Key duties include preflighting, color correction, imposition, creating templates and creating proofs. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) and print technologies is required.
Essential Job Functions:- File Preflighting: Review and correct customer-provided artwork for errors in fonts, images, resolution, and color profiles.
- Templating assets and builds that will be delivered to clients to design artwork against.
- Production Setup: Perform imposition, trapping, and add necessary print marks (crop, bleed) to layouts.
- Color Management: Adjust color accuracy and manage color profiles for different printing processes (offset, digital, flexo).
- Proofing: Generate, check, and send digital or physical proofs to clients for approval.
- Collaboration: Work with designers, sales, and production staff to ensure high-quality, efficient output.
- Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve file issues to prevent printing errors.
- Asset Maintenance: Manage digital asset libraries, templates, and, in some cases, maintain pre-press equipment.
- Ability to interpret and pull dimensions from shop drawings or CAD drawings
Qualifications Required:- High School Diploma or GED
- Software Proficiency: Expert knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (especially Illustrator, Photoshop and Acrobat)
- Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of printing processes, typography, file formats, and color theory.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to meticulously check for errors under tight deadlines.
- Communication Skills: Strong communication to clarify project details with clients and internal teams.
- Experience: Ranges from junior (1–3 years) to senior (5+ years) roles.
Preferred Qualifications:- Bachelor's Degree or Associate Degree in Graphic Design or print technology

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to:
- Able to sit for long periods of time
- Able to physically take measurements of assets or builds, ie know how to read and use a tape measure
- Turn the head, neck and shoulders to both the right and left
- Use of arms/legs to lift and/or move up to but not limited to 50 pounds
- Perform tasks that require adequate manual dexterity in the use of keyboards and keypads, handle or touch objects or controls
- Talk and listen
- Specific vision requirements include ability to listen to telephone conversations as well as face to face conversations
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
- Work beyond a 40-hour week may be required
