Salary Range: $47,000 - $53,000
Position Summary:
The Graphic Designer brings creative concepts to life by developing compelling visual assets across all channels, including social media, print, exhibit signage, and advertising for Explora, X Studio, and Brillante. This role collaborates closely with marketing, content creators, directors, educators, exhibit developers, project managers, and more to support campaigns and visitor experiences with cohesive, high-quality design and print. The designer also serves as a key steward of the brand, ensuring that all materials reflect the organization's unique identity, style, and voice. The Designer must be highly proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, including Illustrator and Photoshop, and must have experience drawing, illustrating, video editing, coordinating with external print houses, printing, and mounting graphics.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
● Manage all aspects of graphic development for exhibit signage, brochures, annual reports, newsletters, invitations, donor recognition/signage, and print advertising based on the organization's core values and strategic plan, and in conjunction with the leadership team
● Maintain and be the expert in Explora’s (including X Studio and Brillante) style guide and branding in all print and electronic materials
● Use the Adobe Creative Suite, especially Illustrator and Photoshop, to design, layout, and produce graphic materials
● Work with the external relations team, project managers, educators, and exhibits team to develop graphics.
● Maintain a calendar to ensure the timely design and printing of Explora’s graphics and publications needs
● Work with the Development team to design and produce donor and sponsor recognition and signage pieces
● Work with the Director of Development and External Relations to develop collateral materials to support Explora’s programs and events; i.e., monthly print and digital communications, flyers, posters, brochures, invitations, newsletters, etc.
● Work with colleagues to convey information to Explora visitors in a manner consistent with Explora’s pedagogy, mission, and values.
● Travel locally to community partner organizations, vendors, networking events, and meetings
● Provide excellent customer service both internally and externally

Minimum Qualifications:
● A Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in a related field and work experience performing similar duties; an equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be substituted, as long as it directly relates to essential duties and responsibilities
● Expertise in Adobe Creative Cloud products.
● Proven command of editorial, grammatical, and writing skills and techniques
● Acute attention to detail
● Experience managing competing priorities and multiple deadlines
● Ability to work both independently and with a team
● Natural trouble-shooter
● Highly organized and detail-oriented
● Willing to regularly remind decision makers of deadlines and decisions that are needed

Functional Work Characteristics:
● Requires sufficient skills to work in a business environment, including organizing, coordinating, exercising daily decision-making, analyzing, and interpreting
● Requires effective eye-and-hand coordination and manual dexterity
● Requires standing and walking approximately 25% of the time, with regular need to perform physical actions that include sitting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, handling materials, pulling, carrying, and pushing
● May occasionally require lifting of various materials and equipment to a maximum of 50 pounds
Work Conditions:
● Most essential duties are performed in a museum and office environment with exposure to a variety of business equipment and other pertinent materials typically found in this type of work setting.
● Museum facilities may expose incumbent to high noise levels, temperature changes, liquid nitrogen, helium gas, electrical exposure, unpredictable ventilation, dust, and physical obstacles.
● Work is normally performed in an area of limited privacy.
Employment Screening and Compliance:

● Employee must comply with all operational policies, especially those involving the safety of fellow workers, volunteers, and clients/customers.
● Employee must maintain a current and valid driver’s license to perform work duties if the position requires travel by motor vehicle, whether in a personal or company car.
Pay: $47,000.00 - $53,000.00 per year
