Job Description: Graphic Designer

Department: Institutional Advancement

Reports To: Visual Media Designer

Pay Classification: 100 (Minimum Starting: $49,000)

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Job Summary: The Graphic Designer is a creative storyteller responsible for producing high-quality visual content that communicates Hill College’s mission, brand, and initiatives. This position supports institutional communication efforts through graphic design, photography, and videography for print and digital platforms, serving prospective students, current students, employees, and the community.

Minimum Required
Education: Associate degree in a related field from an accredited institution

Minimum Required
Experience: Two (2) to three (3) years of professional graphic design experience

Core Duties and

Required Knowledge: Design and produce graphic materials for print and digital use, including brochures, flyers, posters, viewbooks, direct mail, signage, and digital advertisements.

Collaborate with internal departments to evaluate project needs and develop effective visual solutions.

Maintain consistent visual identity across all publications in accordance with Hill College brand standards.

Utilize Adobe Creative Suite and other design tools to develop high-impact visual content.

Capture, edit, and produce photography and video content for college publications, marketing, and events.

Operate and maintain professional photography, video, and audio equipment.

Maintain organized digital media archives and filing systems.

Fulfill in-house printing requests, including printing, cutting, laminating, and assembling materials.

Stay current with industry trends, tools, and technologies related to graphic design, photography, and videography.

Apply working knowledge of marketing, public relations strategies, and media writing principles.

Uphold Hill College’s mission, vision, and institutional values in all creative work.

Strategic Vision and

Program Development: Support institutional branding and storytelling initiatives through innovative visual communication.

Contribute creative ideas that enhance engagement, recruitment, and community awareness.

Assist with visual planning and execution for major college initiatives, campaigns, and events.

Collaboration: Work collaboratively with the Visual Media Designer, Institutional Affairs staff, and campus departments.

Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders to ensure project goals, timelines, and expectations are met.

Provide visual support for special college events and district-wide initiatives.

Other Information: District-wide position

Some evening and weekend work required

Travel to other Hill College campuses or within the service area required

Must possess a valid Texas driver’s license

Performs other duties as assigned

Physical Requirements: Light work; exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. The use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of force greater than that for sedentary work.
